But as I said, while his backups may not have been amazingly better (outside a huge game each, which still count though), they haven’t been worse at all. When you are not doing any better than your UDFA backup, I don’t think you can be considered special.
I think you’re right about him being somewhere in between, but I’d certainly favor pedestrian over special for him from here on out. Luckily, he’s not on my team, he’s on yours. Unless you really have your eyes on Toby Gerhart. He’s got .1 ypc higher than Doug Martin.
Actually, Dez Bryant and Doug Martin both exploded immediately after the trade. At first it looked like I got the better end, but only because Martin is a RB.
Been a trying time since then, especially as Bryant is on pace to have the exact same (excellent) season he had in 2012 and 2013.
Maybe Ben Tate is my new savior. I should probably start him this week…
I bungled the flex spots this week. Andrew Hawkins and Cordarelle Patterson just aren’t doing anything. Jordan Cameron is back, so I may end up going double TE. Andre Holmes had a big game this week and opened this one for an 80 yard TD. He’s one of those size/speed guys, so maybe he’s actually developing.
When I get Josh Gordon back for the last part of the season, these decisions will become easier.
Tighter than I’d like. McCoy and 12 points vs Gore and Randle. Hopefully McCoy can get out of his slump.
Also, Andre Holmes had 15 points two weeks ago before the bye and 26 today. I was considering him for one of my preseason cuts since one of the fantasy news sources said he’d had a falling out with the organization and was worthless now, specifically worth dropping in dynasty.
Surprised there aren’t more trades for defenses in this league. I mean, they’re the one absolutely finite resource. You can’t have either of mine though.
Tonight’s game is going to make this very very close. If Gore breaks out early, it’s mine. But if he gets off to a slow start, he rarely does better by the end of the game.
I’m going to be so frustrated if you win tonight, since pretty much anything else I could’ve done with my flex slots would’ve won me the game. St. Louis is definitely not the D this year to stop anyone.
I vaguely have the impression that Gore isn’t too active when the 49ers are playing catch up, but they’re one of my least watched teams. Still, this is a good start.
Also, my division mates won again, making us clearly the best division, but it currently looks like may division may win the wild card and it won’t even be me. I think that’ll change over the next few weeks though.
We have a new points leader. I’m going to give you all 3 guesses as to who it is.
The Sunbelt division would get the first 3 seeds now if that were possible, with two having 5-1 records, and one having 4-2 and the point lead. 3 divisions in in the Northeast are tied at 3-3, and the Midwest is a bit stronger with 1 4-2 and 2 3-3s.
I’ve been thinking that, given the long term endeavour that this league is, and the fatigue it can bring being bad for several years, maybe we could consider additional parity measures. Added FAAB dollars to low end teams is an obvious option. Some sort of extra draft picks, like maybe the top 4 teams getting double picks at the top of round 2, would obviously be more contentious but viable. Maybe there would be parity mechanisms that were based on the last 3 year’s average finish so that they become increasingly generous to teams that are consistently poorly performing and not just one year flukes.
