Kaine has landed some punches but it’s not clear if there’s any real winner. I think both well have a meme waiting for them at the end of the evening.
Kaine is coming across like a smug dick. Pence is coming across like an evasive authoritarian and a liar, but he is presenting himself (significantly) better than Kaine.
And Miss Quijano, who I had never heard of before this debate (never heard of her network, either, for that matter) is doing a terrible job of asking pointed questions and of controlling the discussion.

Pence strikes me as somebody auditioning for 2020. Kaine strikes me as somebody trying to win this election.

The moderator seems to cut off Kaine when he interrupts but doesn’t stop Pence when he interrupts.
More than that. He doesn’t defend any of it.
I don’t know if that’s a good strategy or not. It’s smart politics for Pence’s own political success, for sure.

Pence looks like he wants this to end. He looked good at first but the longer this continues, he looks tired and it looks like he’s run out of material to work with. Kaine’s looking smarter and smarter.
