That’s it! ENOUGH! This seems like to much fun to avoid.
I’m reading the rules to get a grip on this.
After that I’ll be whatching the MPSIMS like a hawk for entry possibilities.
Just though you should now… riiiiiiiiiight, carry on…

Heh heh heh
My god, that spelling sucked on a completely new level… I’m not a moron, really.
Just thought you should now, OK?
He did it again
It’s just past the adjudication deadline… a confident young Archduke strolls out amongst the trees… even the clearings have the been carpeted with leaves, yet many of the trees nearby have soft pine needles… he takes in a deep breath of the air that settles down from the Alps… it’s likely just his imagination, but he believes he can just, barely, detect the sweet scent of Edelweiss in the cool afternoon air… a postcard couldn’t be more beautiful than the view as the sun is just setting in the West…
:: suddenly a twig snaps ::
“What’s that!” exclaims the Archduke, as he turns to see who is behind him.
Maybe it’s just his paranoia, but he can swear that is a uniform he saw dart behind the pine trees. In the dusky light, he can’t be certain… was it Italian green? Was it Turkish khaki? Gott in Himmel, das kann doch nicht Russisch sein, nicht war!?!
He mops the sweat from his ample brow, and as he returns the fine linen handerkerchief to his pocket, he says aloud, “Mein Gott, wann kommt dann die Beurteilung?”
:smack:
Note to self: Finish composing email, THEN send. Doesn’t work so well the other way.
Adjudication is out and its one of the strangest turns I’ve seen in recent games. Wow, this one’s going to encourage some serious chatter I imagine.
The webpage has been updated, please check in and take a look at this mess.
Newbie Game 1092 -GRY Homepage
No retreats needed, get your builds and disbands in ASAP. Spring deadline is ths coming Tuesday at Noon CST.
Looks to me like the Russian player has been sampling a bit of the vodka earmarked for export.
I think its a perpetual issue.
I haven’t seen the email, so I don’t know if this has been covered, but France, you wanted F MAO-NAO (for North Atlantic Ocean. Nwy is Norway, NTH is North Sea, “Nor” is nothing significant. Personally I like using all-caps notation for sea provinces as it helps to keep things clearer in my mind).
Russia, you had a unit in Ukraine, not in Galicia, and Armenia, not Ankara.
If I may make a suggestion – since these players don’t know the map as well, Omni, maybe posting the next few turns on maps with the names included might help avoid these problems a bit?
And if anybody wants impartial input on their orders, I’m happy to take a look and check for mistakes such as these in the future. I haven’t been reading over every 1092 email I’ve been getting, but if anyone wants to request that I proofread orders before the deadline I wouldn’t mind doing it (if Omni okays it of course).
Heckling to come.
Any and all proofreading is quite acceptable. The province short-names are all on the Winter '00 map on the webpage which I expected players to use for the abbreviations.
WL, I had used the names on the F01 and W01 maps, but as there were more units I decided it was too cluttered after '01 builds and turned them off.
I think the best solution is for the player to simply take a few extra minutes before sending orders to either double check themselves. A player is always able to ask me or you anytime they are unsure of anything as well, including legal moves, province names/abbreviations, and anyhing else rules related.
I think another good rule to follow is, when in doubt, write it out. I know that there are still a couple of abbreviations that still give me fits.
And looking at that map I think I have some serious apologising to do
Oh, FTR, I was not trying to fly my fleet all the way to Norway. Things were a little crazy around here this morning.
Live and learn.
Feh, you should have seen the orders the Kaiserin was giving in George.
What I like best about this turn is that there was so much upheaval in center ownership, but most of it will matter very little. It’s like frantic ripples on the surface of a pond, while the current beneath stays placid. Centers change hands, but most positions remain static.
-Austria puts the smack down, gets two builds, but can only actually build one.
-England gains a center, gets a build, but can’t squeeze in another unit without making another enemy.
-France is the only Power that stays put.
-Germany loses a center but keeps all four of his units right in their four centers.
-Italy loses a center and gets to disband a unit that he doesn’t need anyway.
-Russia loses two home centers, gets to disband a completely useless army, and remains virtually impermeable to further conquest.
-Turkey makes geographically huge inroads into Russia, but only gets one build, and as things stand diplomatically can’t really use another unit anyway.
Oh, I didn’t realize the earlier maps had the names. In that case there’s no excuse. And Shibb’s right too.
And… I’m going home. 1099 adjudication in 3 hours for anyone who’s interested (assuming I’ve got all the orders I need when I get home).
In the words of a regular feature of one of the local comedy troupes (whcih I’m going to see in about an hour);
What the fuck?!
An interesting year indeed. I hope 1099 isn’t that interesting. White Lightning, is it OK if I use full province names like I did in the first set of orders? I don’t want to risk what happened here… I use this map; some of the names are slightly different, is that OK?
My chatter: Turkey’s going to get their ass kicked just because they look huge on the map now. England’s position is impressive, but could be weak to a French incursion. Germany is going to need a degree in psychology to figure out what to defend and how hard. Watch out for Russia pulling a ppg_shg. Italy is very well defended in the event of Africa attacking them. France just is. Kick ass, Austria.
Wow, he’s entered the lexicon. More’s the pity McG doesn’t have a real username.
You can never trust those craaaaazy north Africans. Always getting into trouble.
1- anyone care to fill me in one what a ppg_shg may be? It sounds like it could be a useful thing to know right now.
2- Russia needs to learn map names… and stop trying to cram in my mail and my orders in the last 10 minutes of my shift.
3- I’m eager for the next game. I’ve learned a lot, primarily not to trust the turk. Bastard!
4- I think I have been semi-stabbed again.
