SDMB Newbie Diplomacy game

Sorry guys. I didn’t get that last set of orders before I went out for Fat Tuesday and as a result you all were left waiting for my ass to roll out of bed and to recover. Blame not my debauchery, blame your late player!

Adjudication will be out post haste.

I was replying to WL, but you snuck a reply in before me.

I was Austria, and was looking forward to playing it, but then with the odd plot and restructure, I’m now England. I’m doing OK, but not ‘quite fine’, I think. Despite my reservations (read: being a whiny ass), I’m having quite a bit of fun playing England.

WL is the GM, and Omni is responsible for the page. 1099 website updates (quite rightly) have a lower priority than 1092 adjucations.

Adjudiation is out.

Webpage is updated here:

SDMB Newbie Game 1092 -GRY Homepage

Another interesting turn.

Stay tuned, the Mini-Me page will be updated shortly.

I’ve got every confidence that Omni is well able to handle the GMing duties, Shibb. I don’t believe I get copied on all the orders for this game, but I haven’t really been keeping much track. Also I don’t have any of it here at work.

Wikkit, I could toss up a crappy looking geocities page for 1099 but I doubt it’d be worth my time as Omni always takes care of it anyway. I have neither the access, the ability or, to be honest, the inclination to do it properly at this time.

Well, there was a French incursion into England and Italy is still well defended against the Africans, if perhaps better posed for an attack on the real enemies.

No worries, WL I wasn’t seriously suggesting it. Other Ben is more than capable.

Now, if I could just get him to reply to e-mails more than a couple hours before adjucations, I’d be happy.

At least I’m replying!!!

This damn Nate’s Week-a-Year[sup]TM[/sup] schedule is a killer when you’re dealing with 4 games.

1099 page is up.

I’m characterizing this past season as “enigmatic.” Eager to see the Fall turn.

Just wanted to share a new page I created as a portal to all these games I’m hosting sites for. Its really simple, but might be nice for the kibitzers.

The Tsar sits at his desk, an empty bottle of Vodka knocked over next to the simple box that contains the broken Royal Crown.

“Why? Why did my reign come now? The Rodina is in ruins, the Turk has seized the capital, and all my allys of the past have turned on me. Of have they? How can I tell, when the Turk opens all my mail before I can read it?”

  • He reaches into his desk, and pulls forth a new bottle of Vodka. No longer concerned with being regal, or even human, he pulls from the bottle directly.

A King without a crown is one thing, but without a Kingdom…

[sub] I’m sorry for the delay. My car caught on fire and I missed my visit to work. Shouldn’t happen again. Look for the up and coming thread…[/sub]

Don’t worry about a thing, Tsar. The Italians and the Russians are still friends. I’ll send you a hot supper of spaghetti, pizza, garlic bread, and wine with a dessert of Italian ices for consolation. Think of it as a care package.

Oh, and sorry about the messenger pigeon again. I didn’t think that it would be that much of a bad thing.

It did taste good, though. In fact, I still have some left. I’ll send it over with the food.

“Good Morning Admiral Kemal”

“Morning your Majesty”

“So what was so important that I had to leave my army wintering in Moscow and rush all the way down here to the southern coast?”

“We’ve sighted enemy ships sir.”

“WHAT?!”

“At 21:10hrs on the 4th March 1903 a minelayer on routine manoeuvres in the Eastern mediterranean sighted a large number of ships about forty five miles off the coast. The Captain - a young man by the name of Yilmaz - closed to within sufficient distance to take these photos sire before being forced to withdraw under heavy fire.”

“Brave man. Promote him. So what do these pictures tell us?”

“Well Captain Yilmaz managed to get some good shots - there seem to be approximately 5-6 Dreadnoughts*, several supply ships, what appears to be a Hospital Ship and a couple of large-ish capital ships - two or three Cruisers maybe.”

“What’s that in the background there? Looks like a Battleship.”

“It is sir - i was coming to that. Captain Yilmaz quite rightly guessed that this was the Flagship and managed to get several good shots of her - note the emblem on the flag sire…”

“Ahhh yes - what is that??”

“I believe its a thin based Margheritta with extra cheese.”

“My god! Its the Bloody Italians!”

“Absolutely right sire - but there’s more - note the portion of Garlic Bread in the bottom corner, and what appears to be a stuffed crust?”

“Which means??”

"That this is an elite modern ship of the line - it comes with ‘all the trimmings’ so to speak. Sire, we are looking at the Gloria de Soupino - the most heavily armed and armoured ship in the Italian Navy.

“Bloody Hell!”

“My thoughts exactly sir. There is some good news though, we’ve managed to intercept their communications and crack their codes. It’s yielded some incredibly valuable information”

“Well done that man. Such as?”

“Apparently they offer free delivery within a ten mile radius.”

*yes i know dreadnoughts didn’t come out till 1906 - but i didn’t know what ships were called before then.

Looks like western Europe finally livened up a bit

This is turning into a great place for creative writing. But I think that Western Europe forgot to turn in their assignments.

nah - they just have no culture. its all about arms races and industrial capacity over there.

No wonder. After all, the Rennaissance started in Italy.

thats true it did. Why don’t you take your sailors back there to sample some of it…

Awwww… what’s wrong, your Grace?

Mmmm… Italian food. We could use it. My soldiers are hungry. All that training, you know.

I’m not surprised - they’ve had to retreat such a long way in such a short time.

They must be exhausted!

Don’t worry, Tristan. You will soon be within the requisite ten mile radius for free delivery.

There’s a great pizza delivery joke in here somewhere that would most likely be totally lost on the Sultan.
