I have been uncharacteristically absent from the football threads because life has just been too damned hectic. Fortunately it doesn’t take much time to be in these kind of leagues, so I can at least keep my hand in. Thanks for putting this together, SenorBeef!
Sorry to hear that. I still have a day to change the system around (I think), so if anyone else has strong opinions, go for it. I think the confidence thing will add some fun and a greater degree of personalization to the game, though - it’s really not complicated to set up the confidence picks, just a little more time consuming.
The time factor was the deciding factor for me - I’m already in seven other fantasy football leagues, and I could foresee much future aggravation trying to decide exactly which team merited my 11th best confidence bet.

Weird. I think people were able to sign up after the ind-ne game, so I dunno why it’d stop now. Try it again maybe with a fresh browser, maybe there was some other strange error causing problems.

The deadline for whatever reason is like a day before the game rather than 5 minutes like fantasy football can be set up. This works out better anyway, it’ll give everyone enough time to make their picks next week instead of on short notice like this week.
Fuckbeans. That’s twice in three weeks that I got eliminated by picking the Giants. I swear, it never pays to pick your own favorite team. :mad:
This also applies to wagering. The theory (that works for me) is that you’re too emotionally attached.
Not only could your team lose, but you’d be out the money. Also, if you bet against the team and they win, you feel a little guilty. If you bet on the opponent and you win money, your team still lost.
Emotion will kill you more often than not.

Are we toggling back and forth between the SDMB Survival League and the Baltimore Penal League, or are these two entirely separate entities?
I’m not sure what the latter is, so they’re different.
Twas another Survival league. Last week there were six people left. All but one picked the Giants; the other picked the Chefs. So it ended in a six week tie. Might explain why I didn’t find the league opened again. 
Anyway, my pick is safely in for this weekend, but there are some tough matches out there. Only a couple of “gimmes” and I’m paranoid about those so went with something a little more esoteric.
