SDMB on Vista/IE7

I just got my shiny new dual core Vista PC, and noticed an odd occurrence when I access the SDMB on Internet Explorer 7. I have tabbed browsing turned on, and it works normally when I click on all the links in my favorites list; all that is, except the SDMB. When I click on my SDMB favorite, IE7 insists on opening it in a new window, even if I click on the “Open in a new tab” arrow at the right of the link.

Also, if I open a new tab by clicking on the blank tab at the top of the window, instead of opening my home page, it open a blank window. And if I click on a link on an SDMB page that accesses a site outaside the SDMB domain, it will always open a new window, even though I have Internet Options set to open links in a new tab. This only occurs when I have the SDMB open; I have tried it many times to confirm that this is unique to this website.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions why the SDMB website would cause this to happen, or how to make SDMB browser windows act like every other website?

Never mind, I figured it out. I had put the SDMB in my Trusted Sites zone in Internet Options in order to turn of the nag when creating hyperlinks inside new posts. Unfortunately, that also causes the effects I described above. When I removed the SDMB from Trusted Sites, those problems disappeared. I guess you have to choose between one or the other. I have been unable to locate any way to modify Trusted Sites to avoid the problems with tabs.

There’s probably going to be quite a few things to figure out when using Vista at the SDMB, especially as we are on a somewhat older version of the vB software.

I do not know if or when any upgrade might occur, so let’s hope this is the only problem.

For those of you who do transition to the new operating system please report in with any problems you may encounter and we’ll look into the situation.
