SDMB Overused Word of the Week

The SDMB Overused Word of the Week for the week ending 12/26/99 is:

     *Coventry*

No offense to anyone that used it this week, but I read this word used at least 9 times in multiple threads over in Great Debates, surpassing the total amount of times I’ve read it out here in the past 9 months.

Stay tuned for next weeks winner…

I’d respond to this, but that would be breaking the Coventry.

The reason that some people propose that certain threads be assigned to Coventry is that it’s easier to spell Coventry than Ouagadougou.

Do witches sometimes gather under a coven tree?

You ain’t seen nothing. The old AOL board had “Coventry” as one of it’s pet overuse-words. It was at the level of a joke. Sort of like saying “papal fiat” was the answer to any question with the word “why” in it.
