My eyes! The goggles, they do nothing!
Just remember:

I got bitten by one of these guys when I was a kid. It was my fault - I was curious, and reached out with my finger. It extended that beak and poked me with it, and the result was impressively painful. Not as painful as this guy relates, though:

I was stung by an assassin bug nymph once. Smaller than your typical ant. It wasn’t fun.

For a second there I thought you were talking about the gorilla in the preceding picture.
Gorillas you say?
I was lucky enough to spend an hour with a gorilla family in DRC a couple of years ago. We got VERY close to them, in fact we were surrounded by them and even though we were not allowed to touch them the babies would occasionally attempt to come to us. Anyway it was just myself, one of my best friends and a couple of rangers. The machete you see wielded here was used to cut foliage back not to threaten the animals, so this shot perhaps misleads a little so wouldn’t be suitable for editorial use without context. Still, it’s dramatic looking.
Fall colors at Nymans Gardens, West Sussex, today. I can never predict just what uploading from google photos is going to do - this time it cut the bottom third off the photo. Granted, it’s the least interesting third, but click to see it anyway.

Eek, a sp-sp-sp-spider!

I’m glad I clicked. Nice.

I came across this village whilst trekking through the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. The boys play, the girls look after the toddlers and the adults work…
