OK, I’ll make a thread for that, too. Or someone else will.
Bump
I’m realizing that I’m way behind in finding out about candidates (it probably comes from not registering with a major party and therefore not voting in the primaries.)
My preferences:
- Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico and former Secretary of Energy
- Joe Biden, U.S. Senator from Delaware
- Barack Obama , U.S. Senator from Illinois
- John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona
- Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator from New York
My anti-preferences: (those I would vote for if there were only 2 Americans left in the country, so I can be Congress and vote to impeach their ass once they screw up)
- Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City
- Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas
- Alan Keyes, former U.S. Ambassador to the UNESC
- Ron Paul, U.S. Representative from Texas
- Tom Tancredo, U.S. Representative from Colorado (I don’t think he’s a candidate anymore, thank goodness!)
The others I know too little about to actually place them in a ranking.
So far, Barack Obama’s taking the lead (in presidents we can actually elect ;)) while John Edwards and Ron Paul are in second…
Prefer:
- Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator from New York
- John Edwards, former U.S. Senator from North Carolina
- Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City
- Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas
- Chuck Hagel, U.S. Senator (R-Nebraska)
- Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico and former Secretary of Energy
- John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona
- Ron Paul, U.S. Representative from Texas
- Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts
- Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City
Would not vote for:
* Barack Obama , U.S. Senator from Illinois
* Fred Thompson, former U.S. Senator from Tennessee
* Dennis Kucinich, U.S. Representative from Ohio
* Alan Keyes, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Economic and Social Council
* Sam Nunn, former U.S. Senator (D-Georgia)
* Michael Moriarty, actor, writer, musician, and political activist.
Rest of field no opinion, but put above the “would not vote for” list.
Rudy Giuliani
Mitt Romney
Fred Thompson
John McCain
Not on the list but I’d rank him next: Joe Lieberman.
People I would not consider voting for under any circumstances:
John Edwards
Dennis Kucinich
Ron Paul
Alan Keyes
- Kucinich (the “socialist garden gnome”, preferable to all others by definition)
- Edwards (genuine take-back-America populist despite his personal wealth, haircuts, etc.)
- Barack Obama (bright, visionary, and Jesse Helms will just shit!
)
- Clinton (lots of negatives to her, but what the heck, let’s break that glass ceiling once and for all; there’s no doubt she’s smart and savvy, at least)
- Richardson (good gubernatorial experience, can relate to the Latino community)
The others are not worth discussing.
- Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator from New York
- John Edwards, former U.S. Senator from North Carolina
- Joe Biden, U.S. Senator from Delaware
- Dennis Kucinich, U.S. Representative from Ohio
- Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico and former Secretary of Energy
-
Barack Obama , U.S. Senator from Illinois
If elected President of the United States, these candidates will cause me to lose any remaining faith I have in the U.S. government.
- Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts
- Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City
- Ron Paul, U.S. Representative from Texas
-
Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas
-
Fred Thompson, former U.S. Senator from Tennessee
Not enough data yet. Bump.
- Ron Paul
- Dennis Kucinich
-
-
- My Ass.
- My Ass.
-
Top choice:
- Dennis Kucinich
Would be pleased to vote for:
2. Hillary Rodham Clinton
3. Barack Obama
4. Mike Gravel
5. Chris Dodd
6. Bill Richardson
7. Chuck Hagel
8. Michael Bloomberg
Would be willing to hold nose and vote for:
9. John Edwards
10. John McCain
11. Joe Biden
12. Mike Huckabee
Would not under any circumstances vote for:
13. Fred Thomson
14. Rudy Giuliani
15. Mitt Romney
Would rather have my kidneys removed without anaesthetic by chainsaw-wielding monkeys than vote for:
16. Duncan Hunter
17. Alan Keyes
18. Ron Paul
19. Tom Tancredo
- Obama
- Biden
- Edwards
- Clinton
- Kucinich
- Dodd
- Richardson
- McCain
- Hagel
- Bloomburg
…
- Paul
…
- Would not vote for the rest.
Not Duncan Hunter? Is Romney anti-Hispanic?
Well, y’all feel free to leave out your scorn for Tancedro now.
I prefer approval voting, but I’ll rank for convenience.
I approve of
1 Bill Richardson
2 Hillary Clinton
3 Michael Bloomberg
4 Barack Obama
5 John McCain
6 Chuck Hagel
7 Ron Paul
8 Joe Biden
9 Christopher Dodd
10 Rudy Giuliani
I disapprove of
11 Mitt Romney
12 John Edwards
13 Dennis Kucinich
14 Fred Thompson
15 Mike Huckabee
16 Tom Tancredo
Anyone not listed above I have no particular opinion of, but would rank above Huckabee and Tancredo. Particular ranks are sensitive to my fickle nature, but the approve/disapprove status is unlikely to change.
