Ha! That would have been better! No, they completely forgot and ended up sending a random thing a few weeks late they had clearly gotten as a free giveaway and had been sitting in their home. I don’t think that person is even a member here anymore.
That’s pretty lame. Sorry you got burned. In the first one I participated in, my first year here on the Dope, I thought it would be cool to assemble the chain of gift givers and recipients (here, this was in 2012). What started as an interesting exercise unintentionally led to PMs that eventually revealed one, and perhaps the only, flake that year.
Some of this year’s participants also participated then. But the 2012 flake, though still active here, is not signed up for this exchange.
Life happens, people get suddenly busy with more urgent matters, I get it. But an apology would’ve been nice and maybe that was sent as a PM. It wasn’t provided in that thread. (I wasn’t the one who got burned. I received a nice gift that year and it was a fun exchange.).
:dubious: That’s only slightly worse than dead hamsters.
We’re leaving on a cruise next week, so my recipient may just get something from Aruba or the Panama Canal!
Final count 31 and I’m getting down to work at last.

Hi everyone, I’m going to throw my hat in the ring too. (I don’t work in an office anymore so this is my Secret Santa project this year).
I love wall calendars, cats, dark chocolate, Game of Thrones, and I’m pro-slippers (size 7 gals) as my doctor says I need to at least wear something and not go barefoot at home (I have bursitis). I’m really also into themed-cookbooks such as Outlander Cookbook or Walking Dead cookbooks.
Assignments are done! Let me know if anything is messed up. I was having technical difficulties. If any of you have not posted in the thread about what you like, make sure you do! Also, remember to post when you send your package and when you receive one.
And since I forgot to post like always: It’s easiest to say that I just like neat stuff. I’m a magpie. I’m not into sports, but that’s about it. I like to make things and see what other people have made. I have a very casual job where it’s fun to have things like jewelry and knick knacks that make good conversation pieces. No food allergies or restrictions.

Fun! Thanks for coordinating this, Silvorange!
Got my name, checked wish list - good to go! Ho ho ho!!
Soooooo my person never actually posted on here and said what they like/want!
This should be…um…interesting…
Got my person! Because they’re far away, I’m going to do local stuff which is always fun.
Edited to add: people sending to Canada might want to do so sooner rather than later as we’re having rotating mail strikes so things are moving a bit slow.
Got my person! And yes, I too am worried about the mail strikes as I’m in Canada too.
Got my assignment, too. Oh boyohboyohboy!
Ok I got mine woowoo!
My giftee lives far from me here near San Francisco — they actually live very close to where I grew up, my ho-ho-ho-hometown!
Aaand I’m off to round up some stuff to send out! Yay!
Looking for local stuff as my giftee is pretty far from here. Fun!
I’ve already ordered a couple of things from amazon to come here so I can package everything up. I have something local in mind, too, that I might go look for tomorrow… or maybe wait til Monday so I don’t get trampled to death. This is fun!
My giftee lives quite far from me, so I am excited to shop this weekend for local fun stuff and goodies.
Unsurprisingly, my recipient also lives rather far from me…
Hopefully I can start shopping and making things tomorrow!
