Hi! I haven’t posted much this year, but I am back for Secret Santa! Sorry to be so late about it. I have just had a foster/adoptive child placed this past week and it’s been a real roller coaster.
Anyway, I will copy from last year.
Here’s how it works:
PM me. Please put your username in the subject line. In the message, include your real name, your shipping address, and whether you are willing to ship internationally.
Post in this thread with some ideas for people - favorite things, colors, stuff you are allergic to, etc. You might want to mention whether you are ok with getting homemade food items.
Plan to spend $10 or so, not including postage. If you want to go over, feel free, but remember that it is not expected. Please pack carefully, include your name and username, and send promptly for delivery before Christmas if possible. For some reason, it seems that packages going between the US and Canada are most likely to be delayed.
Post again to the thread when you have sent a package and when you have received one.
I will be keeping a running list of participants in this thread. If you have posted here and sent me a PM and your name somehow does not make it onto the list, let me know!
Please sign up by the end of November 30. I will get assignments out sometime the next day.
I like just about anything. If it’s edible I love it! Local candies are swell, or recipes. Odd shaped cookie cutters. I have a dachshund, so if there’s some cute trinket with a wiener dog on it that would be great.
Just about anything actually, I’ve liked everything I’ve ever got in one of these exchanges. Surprise me.
I like mysteries, colorful socks, chocolate, well, just about all candy and food but my fillings and crowns won’t let me eat sticky things like taffy, and humor. Homemade cookies would be great, too. If it’s a book, used is wonderful.
My favorite colors are purple and yellow, and I’m allergic to sulfa and penicillin, so no antibiotics, please.
Yay! I was just wondering if this would be happening this year!
I like animals, gardening (especially heirloom vegetables, and yes you can send seeds to the UK, customs don’t care)), purple, green, home made stuff and local foods (I’ve not been to the US or Canada, so it’s all exciting for me). I’m vegetarian, but otherwise not picky.
Also, just a note to say that tiny things are fine- I know the postage to the UK can get startlingly expensive if you get anything at all large. Also, don’t bother paying extra for priority, it seems to take exactly the same - long - time either way, and I actually really like having one last present waiting when I get back from visiting the parents
This sounds like fun! PM incoming, just need to verify my new address.
If my Secret Santa is crafty, I also love the idea of a handmade gift! Otherwise, I am pretty easy. I’ll like ANYTHING you send, but here’s a few tid bits about myself:
Likes:
Dr. Who, X-Files, Supernatural, and Star Trek (OS or TNG). Also ANYTHING to do with Catwoman, Xena, Rat Queens, and Lara Croft. If you like to draw, paint, cross-stitch, etc and can create anything to do with any of the above nonsense, I’ll hang it on my wall and cherish it forever!
If you know how to knit/crotchet/sew, I can never have too many scarves!
I am a nail polish fanatic. Any color of any nail polish you can think to send my way will be used.
Soaps, incense, Bath bombs, sugar scrubs, candles, etc.
Dislikes
Candy&Soda
This is probably too much info. I promise, anything you send I’ll love.
I like milk chocolate, cats, other animals, music, reading, and nature. (Though I’d ask, please don’t send chocolate with caramel in it - I like it, but it tends to melt and get sticky in the mail.) I like the colour blue, but I appreciate receiving things in any colour. I like handmade items. I like tiny miniature versions of things too.
OK, I’m in!
I’m game for pretty much anything but if its something relevant to you or where you live that just makes it better.
I’m partial to simple, functional and beautiful and like homemade stuff. I am into sci-fi of all flavours, cycling, guitar, reading, coffee and food of all types.
The mug exchange was a blast so I’m looking forward to this!
I knit and crochet, so a skein of yarn (especially is it was made in your local area) would be great. I’d be happy with most any color except for pink or yellow.
For jewelry, earrings or bracelets are about all I wear. Funky and local is awesome.
I would love anything homemade by you or in your hometown area.
I’ve been waiting for Silvorange to start this thread again. PM sent.
Like most everyone else, something special or unique to your area would be delightful. Last year, Septima sent me a heart Christmas tree ornament, from the Faeroe Islands, made of salmonskin. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
As for what else, well, I like chocolate of all sorts - especially dark. Also, shiny things and trinkets - pens, pocketknives, Christmas ornaments, commemorative coins, bookmarks. Brightly colored socks.
I’m a guy, but I’m girly enough to like scented soaps and candles and things that smell nice.
I enjoy teas, honey, chocolate, soaps, and the colors; purple, turquoise, green, and teal. I would really like something from my Santa’s area. I read UF, romances, and military SF. I’m allergic to coffee and strawberries.
