Howdy, folks! I more or less abandoned the SDMB this year, but this is very important! I know a lot of you have never heard of me since I mostly lurk anyway, but those who have participated the past few years can vouch for my not doing anything terrible with your personal information.
Here’s how it works:
PM me. Please put your username in the subject line. In the message, include your real name, your shipping address, and whether you are willing to ship internationally.
Post in this thread with some ideas for people - favorite things, colors, stuff you are allergic to, etc. You might want to mention whether you are ok with getting homemade food items.
Plan to spend $10 or so, not including postage. If you want to go over, feel free, but remember that it is not expected. Please pack carefully, include your name and username, and send promptly for delivery before Christmas if possible. For some reason, it seems that packages going between the US and Canada are most likely to be delayed.
Post again to the thread when you have sent a package and when you have received one.
I will be keeping a running list of participants in this thread. If you have posted here and sent me a PM and your name somehow does not make it onto the list, let me know!
Please sign up by the end of Sunday, November 27. I will get assignments out sometime the next day.
Haven’t been reading the dope much lately, but guess there was a reason that I logged in today and here it is!
Like earth tones, collect Christmas ornaments, like anything Arts and Crafts style or anything Art Deco. Homemade and local items are way cool too. No known allergies. Like dark chocolate and/or caramel.
PM sent!
I’m partial to pretty much anything food wise except durian. I love coffee, baked goods, guitars, music, Art Deco, cars, geek gadgets and love homemade stuff! No known allergies or sensitivities.
I could use being part of this this year, so here goes…
I like bracelets (as long as they’re not metal of any kind; cloth, rubber, leather, etc.), stuff that smells like vanilla (lip balm, lotion, candles, perfume, whatever), scary stuff, punk music*, white chocolate and nuts, and daily / nightly devotionals.
My hobby is photography. I wear a 2X in men’s t-shirts. The only things I don’t like, food-wise, are coffee and dishes with beans in it. And I’m also a huge dachshund fan. No known allergies either.
*I’ve just now really started getting into it, so pretty much beyond Green Day, Sum41 and Fall Out Boy, I don’t know much. But I’m liking pretty much everything I hear on the alternative station on the radio.
Sending PM now. Thanks for doing this. It’ll be just the pick up I need.
Let’s see…my shirt size is a M. I live in Orlando, so if you’re getting me a shirt, something that stands the hot weather is appreciated!!
Ms. Cups and I do 5ks, 10ks and halfs and the like, so if you have something that could help that it would be fun. I like sports (especially football), video games, reading (muder mystery/serial killer kind of stuff is my favorite), I collect shot glasses and pens…so something local always makes for a great story!
Food wise: I like chocolate and peanut butter, I love dips, not a huge coffee or tea guy, love soda a bunch too and candy is always very appreciated.
Regardless of my likes, if it comes from one of my internet friends I know I’ll love it!!
I missed out last year and I’m so glad I logged in today. I so enjoy shopping and sending and receiving that special SDMB package!
I still collect mouse ornaments/figurines and still love food. I don’t have any allergies that I’m aware of, but I can’t have grapefruit anymore. I would love something regional or exclusive to your part of the world or city/state.
Can hardly wait now to get my name so I can start!
Like to get something from whatever area your from.
Shirt size is a Men’s Medium
Sport wise I am a Miami Dolphins fan
so please nothing representing one or their hated rivals
Also Nothing Cheesy please… by that I mean foodwise, cheesy the other way is fine.
I like lime green, local and handmade crafts, cooking and baking, pottery, growing unusual plants, reading and race cars (not NASCAR) Toys for the workplace are a hit with me as well.
I can’t handle wool, latex, or adhesive on the skin.
I’m in. I’m 59, female. I have a black kitteh (Ursala) and a red headed horse (Ariel) and I ride English. I collect nothing. I don’t read sci-fi or fantasy. I have no interest in sports. I don’t like scented products or candles.
But I’m not picky. I love noshables–nuts, cookies, chips, candy (chocolate, of course). I like pens and little notebooks. Lip balms. Christmas ornaments. Old-timey Christmas decorations. I like anything as long as it is sent in the true spirit of Christmas.
I knit and crochet, so a skein of yarn (especially is it was made in your local area) would be great. I’d be happy with most any color except for pink or yellow.
For jewelry, earrings or bracelets are about all I wear. Funky and local is awesome.
I would love anything homemade by you or in your hometown area.
Favorite colors are orange and purple.
I have both cats and dogs.
I am a huge San Francisco Giants fan. Also love the San Jose Sharks.
I like:

[li]Chocolate (dark and milk, but not the cheap kind)[/li][li]Maple candy like this[/li][li]Earl Grey tea (hot and cold)[/li][li]I have three Rhode Island Red chickens (hens). Rooster stuff is all over the place, but hens, not so much, especially Rhode Island Reds.[/li][li]I like red and yellow and lime green[/li][li]I like pottery [/li][li]I garden a lot[/li][li]I also can (preserve) food (water bath and dehydrate) (I can always use labels for the stuff I make).[/li][li]I have long, thick hair and usually wear it clipped up, or pulled back in a head band, so clips for thick hair or fabric headbands are welcomed.[/li][li]I really like home made homemade and/or local items. [/li][/ul]
I’m in! One of my favorite things about the Dope is the great gifts I’ve received in the gift exchange.
I enjoy the colors purple, green and turquoise. I drink tea but have violent reactions to coffee. I enjoy reading both romances and S/F, in non-fiction both biographies and history. As my name implies, I am a great fan of C.S Lewis and I enjoy the other Inklings. I wear a XL shirt What I would enjoy most is something from the Santa’s home region.
Some things I like:
Animals (especially cats)
Music
Chocolate (milk chocolate with no nuts or fillings. Also, if I’m not being too picky here, please, no chocolate with caramel - I do like it but I’ve found it usually tends to get melted/sticky in the mail somehow.)
Coffee
Miniature things
Homemade items/local items
I’m not sure how good my local postal service is, so I’ll request no homemade food items, since it sometimes takes a while for me to receive packages.
My favourite colour is blue, but I like stuff in any colour.
