Assassin’s Creed franchise is on sale today. We’re organizing SDMB games of AC: Revelations.
I posted this to the sale thread:
Alright so I’m organizing SDMB games of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Get the gold edition for $7.50 (it has some multiplayer maps that everyone needs in order to play them together along with some other minor DLCs).
We played AC:Brotherhood and had fun with it, but the way the matchmaking worked made it hard to find a game after the post-sale slump. ACR is a little better in that regard. I’m also told it corrects some of the stupid aspects of ACB multiplayer and has some new and better modes.
The basic premise of multiplayer is basically a ripoff of The Ship, where you’re assigned another player as your assassination target, and another player gets you. So you have to blend in, sneak around, hunt your target, and kill them without raising an alarm. It’s pretty fun, there are various modes.
Anyway, if you were thinking about getting the game anyway, or it sounds interesting to you, pick up the gold pack (everyone has to have the DLC maps to play them and it’s only an extra 2 bucks), add me on steam and tell me you’re interested. I think we have 7 people in on it already and we’ll get more.
We’re going to get a dirt 2 game going for old times sake tomorrow night, probably a few more times. If you’re interested have it installed and ready to go.
Lately I’ve been pulling out games we used to play together and playing them a few times again. Over the next week I’m going to try to get a few games of Lead and Gold going. It’s only a 1.5gb download, so grab it and be ready. As always, if you’re interested but not on my friends list, add me.
I have a 65% off coupon for Cities in Motion 2 to give away.
This technically isn’t related to the steam community, since it’s on origin, but a lot of the same people who regularly game with the SDMB group will be getting Battlefield 4 and playing it a lot. If you’re going to order it, you have 20 hours to preorder it and get the first DLC free as a bonus.
Steam fall sale is on. I’m going to be getting Dead Island and Sanctum 2 from today, so I’ll run some MP games for those if you’re interested. But it’s 4 player co-op for each, so they may fill up. Of course you can organize amongst yourselves.
Battlefield 4 is on sale for $30 on origin, and apparently $20 if you use this. Not a steam group thing technically since it’s on origin, but about 10 of us have been playing BF4 regularly, so I thought I’d mention it here.
Contagion is on sale for the next 30 hours on steam for 3.75. It’s still in early development stage but it’s playable - game prices get jacked up after they’re officially released, so if you’re interested, you might as well get in now for less than 4 bucks.
Basically, it’s like L4D if it were an actual survival horror game instead of a dumb shoot em up. Ammo resources are limited, zombies wander around and are attracted by sight and sound, but if you move stealthily, you can minimize the attention you get. Headshots are required - you can blow their limbs off and they’ll keep coming. There are a few different modes - the basic escape mode like L4D, an objective mode where you rescue NPCs, and some sort of PVP mode that I don’t really understand yet. All modes have randomized objectives/resources to create more replayability. It has 8 player co-op, possibly some sort of survival mode (videos suggest it but I’m unclear), and if you die you end up becoming a zombie, but it’s not versus like L4D.
Still, it’s a much slower paced, more stealth oriented, limited resource, scarier, more thoughtful, more teamwork-oriented zombie game. I think it would be a good game for the SDMB group to play. Hopefully we can get enough people to get 8 player co-op going. And it’s not even 4 bucks. Grab it now, even if you don’t want to play it until it has more content, since it won’t be cheaper. And add me on steam if you’re interested in playing.
The original guys behind the Flatout series have a new game in alpha! Look for Next Car Game on Steam.
