I received today a shirt from laina_f, and I had a nice laugh.
In what I imagine is most likely a coincidence, our pal twickster lived up to our name by choosing me as the recipient of a shirt from Laina, since she went to the University of Texas and I went to Texas A&M (for the unenlightened, UT and A&M have one of the most heated, most famous rivalries in collegiate sports).
Yes, that was amusing, but it gets better. The shirt I received features a picture of a UFO (which explains what I’m about to say), advertising BMC Software. It prominently declares, “Intelligent life has arrived.”
Hilarious. Thanks for the shirt and the laughs, Laina. You made my day.
I made an effort to get people swapping as far apart as possible – at the very least, not from the same state, and I think I managed to avoid neighboring states. (Of course, I did this without actually looking at a map, so I may have effed up on that inadvertantly – or unavoidably, for that matter, as in the “small” and “medium” swaps, which had five people each.)
OTOH, I didn’t prepare dossiers on people, so the whole college rivalry thing wasn’t even a factor –
I returned home today to find my T-shirt arrived - Thanks, Aangelica! And my contribution will go out in the mail tomorrow. I’m sorry for being so late, but I have an excuse - I was in Orlando tending to my baby after her surgery. But she’s fine, and my sweetie gave me a shirt of his that he doesn’t wear. It will arrive with apologies to my recipient!
I got two “bonus” T-shirts from QueenTonya today – she realized they were the wrong size for her swappee, but the right size for me. What a sweetie pie!
OK, I’ve got my package addressed and ready for the post office. As soon as I do some bill-paying, I’m going to head out to mail the bills and the T-shirt. With luck, my victim… er, recipient will get it Monday or Tuesday.

I’m glad you were slow actually. Thanks to surgery and a death in the family, I haven’t sent yours out yet. The other problem was that once I went to look for a shirt, I realized that I had paint or caulk on all of mine - so I had to buy a new one.
But, I have the shirt, the funeral is over with and I can drive again so it will probably go out on Tuesday.
Hopefully, it wont take too long to get to you.
A little background: My uncle John lived on Gull Lake and worked for the marina. When he passed away two Novembers ago, they re-named the … marina store (dunno what you call it) Johnny’s in his memory. He used to live in the apartment above the shop.
I’m beginning to be a little concerned. Since I haven’t heard anything from my sender or receiver, how do I know what to do next? Does the person who gave me mine know I’ve gotten it already? Is my secret someone who’s been waiting on theirs, had it delivered yet? Wondering where in the hell it’s at?
Shoot, can someone out there in Doper land got a clue? Has the USPS screwed us over? Help!
faithfool, I saw your reply, I’ve just been mad busy with the end of school and graduating. I’m glad you like. I just got mine, as well. It’s cool. Sorry I’ve been a deadbeat, the end of the semester does it to me every time.
