You know what we haven’t done in a while? DOPER SHIRT EXCHANGE!!!
I’m not proposing to run it, per se, although I can if need be, but I have some really fun shirts that I just don’t wear anymore, and would be cool to get new shirts from other people.
Proposed rules: Ends June 31st, email or post here your shirt size and willingness to ship internationally, and at the beginning of July, we’ll ship the shirts places?
I feel like I’m kind of signing myself up to run this thing, but we’ll see if anyone more organized jumps in to take the heat for me.
Umm, as an addendum to my post, let’s say that we’ll end it on May 30th, and ship in June. We can push that back if we need to later.
I forgot what month we were in. And let’s just go ahead and say that I’m organizing it. Y’all can go ahead and post here to make everything look interesting, but don’t forget to email me at the newly-minted dopershirtexchange@gmail.com (thanks Gmail!) with your details (address, shirt size, international preferences)
I ran the last one, and am more than happy to pass the torch. PM me if I can help (in a strictly advisory capacity, of course).
My one piece of advice is to tell people to pick one single unisex size – not “XL, unless it’s a long, in which case L will do, or if it’s green or blue I prefer XXL.” None of that BS – pick a size, people!
ETA: Oh, and tell people to put their username in the subject line of the email – it’s a real PITA later when you’re looking for one particular person. So email should be:
Subject line: Your username
Body of the email:
repeat username
real name and address
single choice of size
are you willing to ship to US only, to US or Canada, or internationally
XXL here, I’m in. Shipping anywhere is fine, I’ll shoot out an e-mail when I get home with all the proper information. This could be fun. I signed up too late to get in on the shot glass exchange, and that’s the one I really wanted. D’oh!
By the way, what are the stipulations on the shirts that we ship out, I’m sure they need to be in good condition, probably no profanity, but anything specific I should know?
Okay – you can post, but you can’t send emails? That’s weird.
chaoticbear – I asked a mod to remove “feeler thread” and the question mark from your thread title – hopefully that will garner a little more attention.
The last time, the only rule was “in good condition.” Some people sent shirts from their own collections that they didn’t wear for whatever reason; others (who didn’t have any in nice enough shape that they were willing to part with) bought new T-shirts specifically for the exchange.
Beyond that: It’s cool if you can send one from your particular locale, or associated with a group you belong to, etc. – something that your recipient won’t find in his or her locale. I got one from a radio station that my sender works at; a high-school drama teacher sent one from a production that his class had done. Of course, if all you’ve got is a really cool art one, that’s fine too.
