Hopefully it will still be warm here when it arrives - it’s downright hot right now and that doesn’t tend to last long. But there will be summer eventually - even in northern Germany
It’s been received and the kid won’t take the darned thing off for me to wash it!!
And dear, patient, wonderful AwSnappity, yours are going in the mail today. I’ve had them for a bit now, but couldn’t get to the post office. LilMiss picked them out - hope you like them!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
My package from the handsome Owlstretchingtime came in today!
I received a wonderful folk-rock concert going t-shirt circa 1998 and a brand new t-shirt from the Detroit Lions equivalent of sucking Tottenham Spurs.
Also, not to be outdone, I got one of those cool floatie pen thiniges ( the kind where a picture floats inside a watery thingie.) My daughter tried to instantly claim it as hers. Not a chance. It goes in my very scarce floaty pen collection. ( I have two,…now three!)
A Union Jack pencil, a post card, a bobby’s whistle (which my daughter is enjoying it whole heartedly right now before I reclaim it and add it to my key chain) and…I am excited (and filled with trepidation) to try the jar of Marmite
WoooT!
Thank you Owlie I’ll send you an email…
Thanks Twickster!
Thanks Grandpa and Johboy!
Susie Derkins, there was a surprise from you today! I’ve never been to New Jersey, but now I can lie and say that I have
Also, in a crazy twist of fate, I got my picked mango today too, and the return address on that was the same as the company who makes that candy you sent me. :dubious:

- senders says has been sent
So it looks like we have three orphans – excluding Chaotic Donkey, who has already been adopted by Susie Derkins, his recipient, but including Alan_Smithee, who got a hand-delivered twicks special. Ahem! Ace309, AkWally, and booker are all deadbeats, so are reaping what they have sowed – so it looks like Alan_Smithee and Tanookie are the main orphans, if we’re going to believe all “the T is in the mail” claims that have been made. Updates and corrections appreciated.
So – I need two people to adopt people who need XL T-shirts – email me and I’ll send you names and addresses.
Okay, that was quick – Alan_Smithee says he’s good, and Silenus just adopted Tanookie – so I think everyone is covered. Speak now or forever hold your peace!
Twickster, both my people have posted that they’ve rec’d their t-shirts. I’m the orphan! Though Altiod has assured me she’ll mail mine out soon from Thailand.
Yeah, that’s why you’re on the list with two asterisks. Sorry, the small print on my plan was a little murky. At this point, we’re still believing the people who claim to have mailed, so we’re leaving their recipients in limbo just a little longer. If you – or anyone else – is still T-shirtless in another week or so, we’ll put up cute pix of you guys as well. “Adopt this puppy-eyed Doper, please!”
Deadbeat here,
I’m sorry I haven’t sent mine out yet, but we’ve been in the process of buying a new house and the financing got all screwed up (Wells Fargo can lick an unclean part of me), the in-laws are in the process of getting a divorce, my brother-in-law who just got out of Marine boot camp ended up going to Iraq instead of Cuba and I could list another few items it those don’t elicite sympathy.
I do indeed plan on sending out a shirt either next week or the week after that. I’m waiting for the moving dust to settle. (We move tomorrow).
Sorry for not paying enough attention to this thread and updating, but I’ve had a lot of shit happening all at once.
Wally
p.s. - My wife just found out she’s going to have move from teaching 2nd grade to 3rd and she has to take masters courses this summer also. Praying for lightning to strike me. (after I send the shirt out)
I’m glad that you got it OK! I wore that shirt to Disney World back in February, and people from New Jersey kept coming up to me, asking me what city I was from. They all seemed surprised when I answered “Tallahassee”.
I’ve taken issue with only one thing. The tag on it bothers me more than any other shirt ever. It’s gettin’ cut out. Tonight.
Tangentially, I have to say the tag info printed on the inside of the shirt was the best thing to happen to T’s in a long time. And thankfully, that same brand does the same thing w/ their line of (women’s at least) underpants.
I just wandered in here looking for some air conditioned comfort from the heat.
I have a couple of very excellent quality XXL T-shirts that I’ve never worn. Both were gifts from my sister, and both have the Confederate flag (or rather what most people down here seem to think was the Confederate flag) and I won’t wear them for several reasons, among them:
1- I don’t think blacks who are offended by that image are “just being sensitive”
2- The articles about that flag in the news (usually as an opening act to an evolution or 10 Commandments story) are one of the most negative stains on the modern south
3- The same idiots who seem to think “my great great grandaddy died for that flag” means something* are the same ones who don’t know that this isn’t the Confederate flag, this is
But, as I said, the shirts are great quality and they don’t say anything at all racist. I’d love to send them to a non-Southern (preferably non-USA) Doper who can wear them without making a statement. Just let me know.
I also have a very faded XL T-shirt that has the double-headed eagle crest of Nicholas & Alexandra if anybody would like it. (I got it at an exhibit in Mobile which is advertised in small letters on the shirt.)
Lest anybody of southern ancestry flame me, my ancestors fought for the south too. My namesake died from a Yankee mortar shell at Vicksburg no less- I have other ancestors who rode with Johnston, charged up Big Round Top at Gettysburg, defended Atlanta, etc… While I don’t think it means they were bad people, it sure as hell doesn’t mean their cause was right.
Tanookie’s package hits the mails tomorrow. Ought to be there by week’s end.
Yay!!! I love mail
ButtonJockey308, I got my package over the weekend.
My late Dad, who was both a cop and a volunteer fireman/EMT, would have gotten a kick out of me wearing the GFD shirt in his presence. Both shirts are cool, and I will wear them proudly.
VenusProbe
I got your shirt today. Fits like a glove (well, not that tight but just how i like it) and I love the logo.
I just remembered the song “Wir sind hier nicht in Seattle, Dirk” (“We’re not in Seattle, Dirk”) by the band on your shirt - so you got a washington reference there.
Twickster
Thank you for the great idea of having this t-shirt swap fest.
Glad you like 'em Vunderbob I felt so guilty about the delay, I threw in the second one. SWAG from a pair of $600 chairs I bought. Glad you dig 'em.
Anybody still T-shirtless? We can have another adoption campaign.
My Tshirts arrived a couple of days ago! They came accompanied by goodies! I’ve already had to defend my shirts from thieves. I’m not sure which one has garnered the most envy from my friends - the Clan of the Cave Beer one or the Spam Carving one.
Thank you very much!
