SDMB Weight Loss Club, December

So, my Official Weigh In result today was 199.8. That’s a 1.4 pound loss since last OWI and, based on the previously mentioned ~2 pound discrepency, roughly the same as my unofficial result from last week, which is pretty good, considering I had the office Christmas party and a pancake breakfast with Santa at my mother’s church since then.

I tried to work the elliptical tonight but it was too soon. I still have a severe groin pull! :frowning:

But I’m still doing my strength training, so that is something.

Merry Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah/Festivus/Giftmas fellow Doper Losers! Good luck to everyone in hopes that we stick to our plans for the rest of the holiday season. Perhaps when the season is over we will all look a bit more like an Elf and a bit less like Santa.

In order to commit myself, I’m at 194.6 today. My plan is to continue to eat light, indulge only occasionally for maximum enjoyment, stick to my walking, and keep getting as much rest as I can.

Once the holidays are behind, it will be smooth sailing until the annual President’s Day blow-out feasting, drinking, and festivities. Nothing warms to heart like the excitement on the children’s faces when they settle into bed on President’s Day Eve. Dreams of George Washington in an oxcart pulled by the assassinated presidents: Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy; stopping at each house to deliver buttons, promises, and long-winded speeches to the good children and unrestrained vetos to the naughty ones.

238½, down 3 from last week and 49½ from thirteen weeks ago. I can now wear a smart pair of dress trousers that I last squeezed into in about 2000 (they were a birthday present that year). Yesterday I went shopping for a cheap pair of jeans two sizes smaller than the ones I could barely get on in September. They went on a treat. In a few more weeks I hope to drop another size.

Merry Christmas, God bless us every one, and I hope to have shed at least another pound by next Monday which will see me past my end of year target with room to spare. Stick to it!

Wow! Congratulations, Malacandra!

I’m actually kind of looking forward to Christmas for a change. I think I’ll be getting some nice new skinny clothes. That’s much more fun than getting fat clothes that still turn out to be too small to wear. (Having to admit to the giver is no picnic either.)

Anyway, Happy Christmas, everyone!

Happy Holidays Tikki, and to all the Doper Losers!

Happy holidays to all my fellow “losers”!

I saw quite a few people today that haven’t seen me in a long time, and everyone was duly impressed with my progress. That’s a very nice feeling!

I indulged, yes, but I did so sensibly, focusing on protein first, still took all my vitamins and supplements, and drank plenty of fluids.

Hang in there, everyone, you’re doing great!

Happy Holidays!

I made osso bucco for dinner last night. It was awesome and everyone was well pleased. I also made a chocolate Pannetone trifle that was insanely rich and decadent. My husband has now insisted that it requires real whipped cream.

I haven’t been walking because I’ve also managed to acquire a nice little head cold for the holidays. I’m sure my weight is up a bit but I’m not fretting too much. I’ll kick it back down before new years.

I’m skipping my weekly weigh-in, as I’m about 1000 miles from my scale.

For the past few days, I’ve been on Santa’s naughty list, but starting today, I’m trying to get back to more responsible eating. (Breakfast was good. Lunch was a big oops, and I feel a little sick.)

My parents gave me, as a gift, a shirt that is a size too small. I’ll keep it. It fits just fine!

This morning I went to the Y where my parents are members, and decided to try some of my strength training but with different amounts of weight than I’m used to. Ow. My shoulders hurt. Going from 10 pounds to 25 was a challenge!

I’m finishing off the year down another 1.5 lbs (since before Christmas—not bad!) for a total of 7 lost in 2 months. I guess slow and steady really does work after all.

I also broke into a new decade, so I’m happy about that. 9 more until goal weight.

I’m sick and I have my period. There will be no Jan 1 weigh-in for me here, I’m sure I’m up from my last report. I will tell you that I got a size SMALL sweater for Christmas, and it fits.

Oy vey. 243½, up 5 from last week though down 44½ from fourteen weeks ago. :frowning:

I’ve been eating a lot more than normal over the last week and have just weighed in a day early as I shan’t have the time to do so tomorrow evening. I’ve pigged out a lot less than over a normal Christmas holiday, for what that’s worth, and I’m frantically telling myself that I probably have more ballast in my digestive system than I’ve had for the last three months - in which case, I hope to see a sharp drop over the next week. For all that, I’ve been back in the dog-walking routine since the 27th so I’ve not been a complete slob, and the reading above has come as a shock.

Ah well. I was looking forward to getting back into the routine this week, and now I’ve all the more incentive. See you in next month’s thread.

January 08 thread

After starting at 134.6kg on Jan 1, 2006, and getting down to 101.4kg in mid November, I’ve gone up by almost 5kg since then. :smack:

Starting tomorrow (today I have a family event, being New Year’s Day, and my mother’s making huge efforts on the food) I’m going to be back on track again. I am -not- going any further backwards.

I could kick myself right now, but I also know that almost two months worth of pre-Xmas, Xmas and New Year’s-related food does not an irretreivable breakdown of healthy living make. (It sure does screw with your sense of perspective, though.)

I know the weight probably won’t come off terribly fast - even once I’m eating normal food again, it’s *beyond *too hot to exercise at present. Plus the flies and mosquitoes are making it impossible for me to go walking, even if I get up really early or head out after sunset. And I hate gyms, so that’s not an option.

But that’s okay… if I can even do ‘maintenance’ with healthy, well-balanced foods until the weather cools, that’ll help. It’s more about getting food down to sane portion sizes and balancing out my blood sugar levels again, at this point.
