Done and done.
I’ve been thinking about this and I’m not sure what the best way to deal with it is.
My preference (for now) is to keep it the way it is. We’ve got the five roster moves which gives you a little bit of breathing room if your goalie is out for an extended period of time plus we have the IR spot.
We do have 14 teams in the league though so that definitely puts a bit of a premium on goalies. If we can work out a simple way to do this, I’d be fine with it but I don’t think most people would be interested in daily roster changes (per meek’s suggestion).
Is it possible to have a Team Goalie?
For fantasy football we have done this ( for QB )and it works out OK.
Unfortunatly that’s not an option in Yahoo!. But…what we could do is in the draft you can draft a team’s starting goalie and then in the last round of the draft you have to handcuff the backup goalie. There would be 2 starting goalie positions. Drafting the starting goalie would serve as a proxy for drafting the “Team”.
If there was a trade during the year, you would be forced to drop the goalie that is no longer part of your team and pick up the replacement. This would not count as a roster move.
For example:
You draft Vesa Toskala (Og help you if you do) and then in the last round, you take Curtis Joseph. If Toronto were to trade Toskala during the season to Ottawa, you would have to drop Toskala and pick up the new goalie in the tandem (it would probably be Justin Pogge).
It’s a bit of work but if people like the “Team” concept better, I think this is the best way to execute it.
Ok, just saw this…I’m in.
I should probably call my team “The Anybodys Except Chris Mason”.
Ok…I’ll stick with the Phuckstickhandlers.
where can we find general information about the league rules?
in general, how will the draft work?
I think most people do the Pre-Draft Ranking thing, and so the draft itself goes pretty fast.
You can rank players in your own custom order prior to your league’s draft. This is especially helpful if you will not be participating in a live draft. Our computer will draft a balanced team for you tailored to your rankings and positional needs.
I’ve ranked close to 100 players as I won’t be able to be at the draft live. I should be pretty fast. I’m just hoping that by ranking 5 goalies, that’s enough. I might go back and rank a few more unless the draft will autopick me the highest available goalie if all my choices are gone.
Yes it does do that for you.
Before the draft starts, could you refresh me on the league rules for roster changes? I want to be sure I understand the final decision on the goalie rules and the number of roster changes allowed. Thanks! as_u_wish, mgr ROUS Hockey.
Crap. I can’t log into the live draft. I did pre-rank players, but I prefer to have control in the live draft.
So who wants to lower expectations for their team first?
Wohoooo! What a draft!
I got stuck with the NHL’s poster boy again. But at least I got to Kyle Turris. I think he’ll be big in Phoenix. I also think I stole Ryan Suter. Overall I’m happy with my team. Good luck everyone!

Oh, I do so wish I could have been drafting live. How on earth did Thornton go 16th?
I missed the live draft, so I’m going to check who I got right now.
…How did I end up with an inactive player that I didn’t even rank??? I’m calling last place!
I’m not going to gloat. I’m not dancing on anyone’s grave. But, I think my Desert Ice Dogs have the best team by far in this league.
Loving it!
