My back end looks a little suspect, but I figure the team in front of Ozzie is good enough to keep him getting wins on a regular basis. Schneider will get a boost being a stud on the Atlanta power play, and Stuart should also get a boost from playing on Detroit’s number two power play. My forward core isn’t flashy (with the exception of Zetterberg), but I think they’re solid enough. Holmstrom and Hudler both should get some dependable points playing on lines with huge talent.

Help! I just found out that one of my players (Gonchar) will be out 4-6 months. So I decided to do a trade on the understanding that I could do an unlimited number prior to the start of the season. But it looks like I can’t. Apparently, he’s a “don’t drop”? This is a new wrinkle that I wasn’t aware of. Am I just stuck for the entire season with one player short? I thought that was what the trades were for…

My biggest weakness that I can see, would be having no first round type of scorer(90+ pts). I didn’t pay enough mind to the limited goalie stats at the time and was psyched out by the number of teams. I took Luongo with pick 1.8; in hindsight I could have got either a Zett, Kovo, or Iggy; then had Lundqvist or Price, who both fell back past me in the second, or any other mid round, 30 win goalie. Oh well, lesson learned; just you all wait till next year! I do have some youth at forward, so I am hoping to get some added upside out of them.
Back on the blue line is where my strength is. I was hoping to grab D.Roy in the 4th, but he went the pick before me(Senatooors!/sc), so I snagged Markov to compliment Lidstrom. Whitney, I was surprised I got as late as I did and thought I got a steal. That is, until I just learned today that he is out till Dec-Jan.
All in all, I am still pretty happy with my team; not a likely favorite to win the league, but I got an outside shot. I think the biggest second guessing I have done post-draft, is realizing that I could have put together the beasts of the WHL(Iggy,Price,Marleau,Mueller).
Is it too late for people to sign up for new teams? My wife (a Doper, Nawth Chucka) wants to join up. I’ve told her the draft has come and gone, but she still thinks she can whoop us.
