Searching for a job in Tennessee

My wife and I want to move to Tennessee, Nashville to be exact, to be nearer to her family and to get out of Detroit. Neither of us like the winters here and we just generally don’t like the city. Added to that fact, my wife hates her job.

So, I am looking on various online sites for a new job, but I would like some opinions on good jobs sites to look at. So far, I am looking on Monster, Career Builder, Dice, Flipdog, Job.com, HotResumes, Yahoo! Hot Jobs, MSN Careers and Thingamajob.

I have worked for a year in desktop support and prior to my current job I was on the help desk. All of my work is phone based support in my current job.

So, can anyone suggest any other sites for me to look at?

You might also try nashvillejobbank.com or tennessean.com (our newspaper) and click the job link.

Considering your background, you might consider contacting Dell computers here in Nashville. Dell tech support (one of them anyway) and sales are here about 2 miles from the airport.

Try the State Government.

Do some Googling for the site.
You sign up, get your name on the register, & if you rank high enough, we call you.

And we always need computer people.
The pay sucks, but guarenteed health insurance for yourself, spouce & minor kids.

I’d recommend Murfreesboro to live in.
Cheap rent, cheap gas, local University, & we’ll be opening our new Hospital/med center soon. Old one’s still open.

Bosda, you’re in with the govt? Dang, I’ve been trying for a while. Done a couple of interviews but nothing lately. Got a friend who is maybe leaving for another position and says he’ll recommend me for his old one, but who knows when that’ll be. So I resubmitted online (geez that’s a long application) about a month and a half ago. Anything else I’d need to do?

Not really a hijack I guess since the info would be handy for RickQ as well. Yes, government jobs around here are very very popular.

Did you attach you educational records?
Did you give references?
Did you know that there is a hiring freeze on? I had forgotten. :o :o

Thanks for your responses Max and Bosda.

I have tried looking on the Tennessean’s webiste but it seems to just use Career Builder, so it did not give me any new results.

I looked on a TN government site too, but I did not find much there. I will be sure to check back though.
