Does anyone know the term for when a newbie (such as myself) adds a comment to a thread which is so inane as to preclude any more discussion? I seem to remember seeing a name for it, but after 3 days of digging into my memory bank and coming up short, I thought I’d go to the pros.
Disclaimer: It hasn’t happened to me yet, but it’s still early.

Don’t know the “technical” term for it, but I surely have done it. I call it my “Silence…Sound of crickets” post.

No, I disagree. That would appear to be a term for those who seem to kill threads almost all the time. I think the term “threadkiller” is enough, IMHO. Besides, “molosters” at a glance looks like “molesters”, to which I’d go “Say what?”
Just as “OP” can mean Opening Post or Opening Poster, acording to context, I think “threadkiller” covering both post and poster has a certain symmetry about it.

Yeah, but that’s just killing, as opposed to molesting. I mean, it’s perfectly acceptable in polite society to talk about murder and killing and death, but just say “fuck” once and somebody has a hissyfit.
