Seattle Pub Trivia '07: The Eye of the Tiger

I see that you guys won – unless someone else is quoting Cervaise’s thread – and am I correct in figuring that you got a perfect score?

And, more importantly, since I’d like to review it sometime, is it worth going back? (I’m assuming a win is a vote in their favor, but…)

We didn’t get a perfect score. Questions in the final round were worth two points each, rather than one, so 45 questions = 50 points. There was also a bonus point awarded for the “what’s the longest anyone can serve as president” question because the quizmaster thought it was difficult; we got it. We wound up with 45 out of 51.

Regarding the quality of the experience:

Pro:[ul][li]Good format.[]Comfortable setting.[]Much better food than our other regular venues. My spicy sausage sandwich was delicious.[]We crushed the opposition, drove them before us, and heard the lamentations of their quiz-challenged brains.[/ul][/li]Con:[ul][li]We crushed the opposition, drove them before us, and heard the lamentations of their quiz-challenged brains, which is fun once in a while but could get old.[]Parking’s a bit iffy.Biggest problem: there were very few teams, which meant (a) not a lot of competition and (b) small cash prize. Don’t know if this is typical or an artifact of nice weather plus day before holiday. Thing is, though, it’s kind of a small venue, so the low turnout was appropriate for the number of tables. Twice the teams and the place would be a zoo.[/ul][/li]So I’d say it’s worth going back at least once to see whether the impression above is consistent. If yes, then it’s a good occasional destination.

Assuming I don’t melt over the course of the day, I’m in for tonight. The better half of Laser Rocket Arms is hosting. Anyone else going to be there?

I’ll be there (arriving between 7:30 and 8:00).

I’m a maybe – I didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night. And with the way the heat is supposed to go, I may not have any shoes that fit by the end of the day! So, we’ll see.

I’m a maybe also. The old sword coach wants practice before he goes to the Worlds, and I need to improve upon my 96th place finish at nationals…only 363 days to go!

My brother and I are in. We may even be able to get there early enough to get a decent table. No promises, though.

96th sounds pretty good to me. That means you’re better with a sword than 299,999,904 Americans.

I’m a probable.

(My car has a tendency to choke in the heat, which could be a problem.)

Why, is it hot outside?
[I’m not mad, just red-faced from the frickin’ heat!]

My wife and I will probably be there.

It’s Tuesday, right? Are we going to trivia? I’m in.

My brother is also in. Anyone else?

Sorry, I’m out for tonight.

I’m a maybe tonight, but if no one else is going, not much point, eh?

I’m planning to be in Seattle late next week, so if you guys are doing Pub Quiz somewheres between the 26th and the 31st, I’ll try to make it. I think I might be of some help.

We don’t use Pig Bucks in Seattle. We use real money.

I’m in.

One Pig Buck for one drink… maybe you should!

I’m in.

I’m in – I’m hosting.

Fair warning: your requested round isn’t happening. I’ll buy you some nachos if you want.

I’m in. What’s the alternative category, if not Washington State Correctional Regulations? (Which, properly modified, wouldn’t be a bad team name…)

Tuesday’s our usual night, but there’s a place we go to occasionally that runs a quiz on Mondays. Do you prefer the 30th or 31st?
