Special super secret gift to you, my message board buddies: “Asimov” is the correct answer to exactly 0 questions.
Hi, remember me? I could probably be there tonight, but it looks like you already have five committed team members. I’m bad enough with back up. Maybe next week.
Oh, BTW. I saw some sample questions from the Lock Spot’s quiz. They were very easy. Too easy. My husband got 4 of the five sample questions. Either the sample Qs were bait, or fishermen aren’t too into trivia.
Hey, I’m not actually hosting tomorrow night for the first time in four weeks or so. So I figured it’d be fun to celebrate by going to trivia somewhere else. Anyone want to try the Hopvine’s quiz? I’ve heard good things.
Also congrats on second place last week.
I don’t know anything about their quiz night, but the Hopvine is my neighborhood joint, and I can attest to their food and beer menu being far better than those of G&D, Murphy’s, or the OP. (And if you like soup, you’re really in luck. Wonderful stuff.)
I was going to beg off tomorrow because of a couple of looming deadlines, but if it’s the Hopvine I’ll reconsider, though I don’t know what time I can get there. Warning: the place is pretty small, and it’s sometimes hard to get a seat even on an ordinary night, much less when there’s music, trivia, etc. Can anyone arrive early?
I could probably arrive early.
That used to be my neighborhood also. I was living on 19th when the Hopvine opened. I remember it started as a pretentious high-end-whiskey-and-fern bar to compete with the pretentious high-end-whiskey-and-fern bar down at the other end of 15th. That one’s closed now, so maybe the Hopvine scene has relaxed a bit.
Just to be safe, though, I’ll bring bongos and a copy of The Economist.
The bus situation seems easy, so I’m in. I can probably get there quite early, so long as the pub staff won’t mind having me hang around for hours without drinking like an Irish stereotype.
Sweet. I’ll plan on it, at this point, though I can’t swear to what time I’ll get there, other than “before the quiz.” But since the food’s apparently worth it, I’ll definitely eat there.
Wonder if they take OP bar credit?
I’m glad to see that the Hopvine has a different dinner menu, because I’m getting a little tired of their lunch menu (it’s the current favorite hangout with some of my other friends). Especially since I can’t have the booze anymore. So yes, I’ll plan on being there tomorrow, and I’ll try to get there early so I can get some food – if their Sunday 1pm service speed is the norm, I’ll be prepared for a long wait…
I might bring a friend, if we’re not over our team limit (6 people, right?).
I’m free tonight - if there’s still room.
I’m in. Two teams? Competition amongst ourselves? Lord of the Flies, anyone?
Ok, make that me +1.
For a group this size, I guess I’ll pick up something to read at the library and go straight to The Hopvine. I should be there camping on seats by 5:30. I’ll probably last be able to check the thread at about 4ish, so I’ll try to save spots for anyone that posts before then.
Not that I wouldn’t appreciate some others getting there early enough to help save seats. Looks like the current count is 9 folks, so anyone else who gets there early to back up my claiming of that much space will be appreciated.
Not in, sorry guys. Good luck, hopefully see you next week!
My friend won’t be joining us – her sister-in-law is in labor! She’s up for other weeks, though.
The silence, it weighs on me…
Are we playing tonight?
The silence! It burns!
Thanks to a work deadline, I’m out this week.
NO! How will we survive?
I’m in.
I’m afraid it’s another crunch period at work, so I can’t join in tonight. Shouldn’t be a problem next week, but I make no promises.
Don’t forget to watch KCTS Chefs 2007 this weekend!
As long as somebody explains the Mrs Fields cookie recipe, I won’t miss it.
(Are we at the PQ?)
