Seattle Pub Trivia '07: The Eye of the Tiger

Tonight? Anyone else in for an example of hoe much smarter Cervaise is than the rest of us?

So, we’ll be playing without Cervaise but it’s sure to be a good quiz. I’m going. Who else? Have all the ill folks recovered enough to survive a night out in Ballard?

Don’t speak too soon. I still haven’t finished going through this month’s Tiger Beat collecting photos of teenybopper idols for the “people you’re too old to ever have heard of” picture round.

I’m feeling much better, thanks. Planning to arrive around 7:30.

Checking with the boss, but “all signs point to yes.”

I think I will probably not be there tonight – “morning” sickness seems to have gotten the better of me.

I’m out next week, too, for my regular first-Tuesday meeting.

Have fun getting your spirits crushed!

Like I said…yes! Don’t know what time we’ll be getting there. She’s going to happy hour with coworkers, so anywhere between 5:00-6:30.

It’s a good quiz. I don’t know why Cervaise’s too chicken to actually read the questions out loud himself.

You guys did read up on Lebowski at the IMDb and Wikipedia, right? Can’t hurt.

Two words: witness protection.

So, how’d you all do? I’d say that I was with you in spirit, but I was busy sipping ginger ale and falling asleep on the couch at 9:00.

We finished 4th, a couple of points behind the winner.

The topic we chose for next week’s quiz is “science fiction authors.” For some reason, my proposal for “dry rot in Anglican church rafters” did not gain wide acceptance.

I liked it.

We were somewhat suprised, as we felt we’d done quite strongly in the 2nd half (we finished tied for 1st at the half). Of all 2nd half rounds, we got 8, 9 or 10, except for one where we ended up with 6. That 6 did us in, apparently, as we finished 3 points behind the winner. Sadly, we were all able to identify at least one question where we’d each contributed to the wrong answer.

But then again, we were all able to point to a time when we as individuals were the ones to know the correct one. And props to all of us for working together to get to Luis Guzman!

“Vassar! Vassar?”

Hehe.

Um, E. Thorp, how is it that you know enough about that to suggest it as a round topic?

My T.S. Eliot phase during college, of course.

I definitely must come tonight, so that I can be humiliated by numerous failures in a round topic I suggested.

However, I must also go home after work, so I’m not sure when I’ll make it to the Old Pequliar. I hope someone can get there early to snag us a little quizzin’ space. Lately the tables have been all taken early in the evening. I hope I’ll be there by 6:30, but that’s up to the vet and my cat’s illness, as well as the vagaries of Metro.

I have another shindig this evening, so I have to pass. Luckily for the team(s), I don’t know anything about science fiction authors anyway.

I’m in. I shall endeavor to appear at an earlier hour to secure for the group some excellent seating.

I might actually be able to make it tonight - my meeting was cancelled. I’m feeling pretty good so far today (knocking wood), so there’s a chance.

I won’t be any help on the Saltire’s round, though. Maybe I’ll see if I can drag my husband along, since he at least reads sci-fi/fantasy.

I don’t think we’re in tonight. We’re both pretty wore out from an incredibly busy weekend. Luck!

Why didn’t we suggest “Things that are in my apartment.” as a round!

I’ll be there tonight to say “Asimov” to every sci-fi question. It’s a gift.
