Will They jump on the conference expansion bandwagon?
If so, who will they invite and which of those will accept?
From news reports and the rumor mill over the past couple of days, it seems Texas A&M is all but a done deal. I seriously doubt them adding a single team. If they expand it will be with 2-4 teams.
I think if they can nab a marquee team from the Big 12, i.e. Oklahoma, Texas, or even a Texas Tech/Ok State, they should. Otherwise, I don’t really see the point of adding a couple of bottom feeders when they are already at 12. They are probably best off biding their time in hopes of poaching some ACC/Big East teams. Picking up two or four of Clemson, Va Tech, Ga Tech, Miami, FSU, or USF makes a lot more sense in terms of regional rivalries than poaching teams like Kansas, KState, Baylor, Iowa State, etc.
The only Big 12 schools I have seen associated with SEC interest as of yet are A&M, Texas, & Oklahoma. I think many in Missouri would jump at the chance after being snubbed by the Big 10, but have never seen them, or any of the “lesser” big 12 programs mentioned.
My other question is if they do add A&M and either Texas or Oklahoma without adding a couple of schools in the east to balance out the two SEC divisions, does that mean the current east/west alignment would be re-mixed by moving an existing SEC-West school to the east to maintain east/west balance?
