I would really appreciate things that are local and special to you. For example, one year I got a Sunday edition of the New York Times, with comments written on index cards in various sections. Another year brought me a box full of Texas goodness (the Boss Lady lip balm was probably the best I’ve ever used). Go crazy!
Also, I should probably give a heads-up to my Santee that being on a different continent may mean your gift takes a while getting there. But it will, eventually.

A note on international shipping*
For the purposes of this exchange, “international” means “not in the US.” So, European Dopers – you are considered international.
US-based Dopers – thanks for those of you who have indicated your willingness to mail internationally. So far, there are more of you than there are international Dopers who are participating.
Why I’m bringing this up: If you ship internationally, you will receive internationally (though not from the person you’re shipping to). So – if you would really, really, really like to exchange with someone abroad, let me know – and if you’re willing to do it if I need you to but don’t care, let me know that also.
No guarantees either way, of course, but I will try to oblige.
And, FTR, “Canada” is considered “Canada,” neither domestic nor international – I’ve had one person say “US or Canada,” but no Canadians have signed up yet, so it’s still moot at this point.
