Same here. I have a couple of new cookie cutters I want to try out.
PM me your address, too, please!
My gift is officially headed west, and should arrive by Saturday! (Fingers crossed!)
@Rhiannon8404 today I opened the Dick Taylor craft chocolate. Oh. My. Gawd. SOOOO good. We both had a small piece with our after dinner coffee and the world was very good.
Thank you so much for the amazing chocolate!
I am so glad you enjoyed it!
OK, I mailed my Secret Santa’s gift on Tuesday. The USPS said it would arrive on Thursday. When I tracked it this morning, it said that it never left the originating town. I just got back from the PO, and they say it’s not there and that the UPC might have been faint and hard to scan, but it’s probably still on its way/arrived. I’ll wait to hear, and track again in a few days!
I can’t believe this is happening. I mail packages through the USPS at least once or twice a month, and the only problems I’ve ever had are with the SDMB Secret Santa. Years ago I once sent a huge box of treats and snacks to a Doper in Mexico, and as far as I know, it still hasn’t arrived.
The first year I did the Secret Santa was almost my last due to the USPS. My package spent almost three weeks bouncing from one side of the country to the other before finally being delivered.
I have never been able to successfully mail a package out of the country. They do usually arrive after unexplained delays, but have always been opened and picked through. Usually the main gift item would be missing but sometimes they would just eat the cookies and leave the tschotskes alone.
Years ago I corresponded with a guy in Latvia. This was before the breakup of the Soviet Union. I told him I wanted to send him the gift of a fruitcake and he advised that it be sent in the plainest box possible, as goodies from the West often “got lost” in the mail. So I did and the cake arrived safely.
My gift finally made it out in the mail today. Let’s see how long it takes to arrive at the other end.
I also sent a belated birthday gift to a Canadian friend. Holy mackerel, I had forgotten how expensive that has become! The good part is that the gift I am sending includes books of hers that I am returning and the gift itself isn’t worth a fortune, so no tariff to worry about. It might be cheaper for me to deliver it in person next time.
Well! I only wish hocow could see me now! I’m admiring my DELCO ornament on my Christmas tree and my DELCO magnet on my fridge, nibbling on a chocolate from Kelly’s Kandy, and sniffing some locally made wax melts! It is all amazing! I only regret that I had to choose between drinking wine in my DELCO stemless wine glass or drinking a beer in my DELCO koozie. The wine won out tonight. I love it all so much!
Sorry, I should have explained to everyone else what DELCO is - it’s Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Beloved by its residents, evidently - lots of local goodies and fun stuff labeled “DELCO - It’s a Way of Life”!
My package was delivered to my Secret Santa’s building at 6:04 p.m. today! Not sure why there was such a delay, but all’s well that ends well.
Mine just went out today. I apologize in advance to my giftee, as your gift(s) may be slightly belated. Or not. Who knows with the USPS these days.
The box was not painted to my satisfaction, but apparently Dollar Sto’ acrylics suck.
In my defense, I made up for it with the postcard.
I truly hope my giftee has a good sense of humor, the ^^ was slightly NSFchildren.
I’ve just received a box from @carnut! As it looks intact and not crushed, I will wait until Christmas to open it. Anticipation makes things even more fun!
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas!
It did end well! Just in time for st. Nicholas day!
Individually wrapped, and perfectly sized for a stocking.
Chocolate! A nifty Pittsburgh magnet! Trump sized hand soap (tee hee)! Wonderful cats in a pine tree cards! A very wonderful bat ornament! A merry and bright tote bag!
Thank you so much! A box of awesomeness!
Because the Etsy artist didn’t paint the first bat’s nose correctly, she sent me a new one and let me keep the old one, so now I’ve got a very wonderful bat ornament, too!
it is so beautiful it will hang out all year.
I was going to send an updated progress report, but I think we’re just waiting for rocking_chair to receive their second gift, and I don’t want to give anything away. Keep us posted, rocking_chair!
A beautifully decorated box arrived!
Cat toys! A bevy of Michigan delights! Chocolate, honey, blueberries, honey, and a wee Christmas pickle.
Thank you, purplehorseshoe! Well done!
I opened the California poppy seeds this morning and had a bittersweet moment, remembering Mom’s poppy filled garden in the summer. Thank you so much for the wonderful seeds, they will love the Arizona sun. (BTW, was that legal? Sending them across the border like that? Not that I care, but I seem to remember Mom trying to get some in Idaho and having problems with the post office.)
I enjoyed your card, thank you. You mentioned coming to AZ, but didn’t say where you would be. If you will be in the Phoenix area, try to make time to go up the mountain to Black Canyon Heritage Park…sooooo many birds!
I also opened the second box to find a beautiful handmade bowl. I know that folks don’t usually post pics, but knowing that you have never seen it, and wanting to share off its beauty…here are pics.
It is fabulous, just wonderful. I honestly cannot find the words to say how much I love it. Thank you so much!
