See you guys later...

Well, Airman, it’s time for me to add my good wishes to the list already here. I hope you have a good (?) time and keep us posted on things!

I still have not heard from Dave, so I assume he’s still in the air somewhere. It’s a pain to get from Harrisburg to Biloxi (I checked last night), and if I’m not mistaken, he’s got at least two stops to make. However, he is a LOT closer to me now than he was in PA, so I’m happy.

When I get his address (hopefully, this week), I’ll post again to this thread and let anyone who wants it have it. He really enjoyed getting all those letters and cards in basic training, and would love to get mail while he’s in tech school.

Robin, who can’t wait till next month, when he can see her really pregnant for the first time!

Good luck Dave. Hurry up and finish so’s you can get off your Keesler.

Take care, Dave.

No, dude, you are thinking of CE Tech School, at the Wright-Patt Luxury Suites. Trust me. . .

Safe trip, man, and don’t be a stranger.

And don’t forget about WPAFB’s breakfast/brunch-in-bed that they offer.

Damn. Get another Mississippian, no matter how temporary, and we’re not there any more.

Hope you like Biloxi, Airman. Make sure you hit casinos for the food. It’s fantastic down there. Best of luck!

Just an engineer’s daughter wishing you good luck. Oh well, at least it looks like the world will get one more competent tech out of this.

Thirteen weeks?! That’s practically forever, for tech school!

Goodness, I was only in tech school for a paltry 29!

Good luck, PINGER!

Or, you know, that could have been ME forgetting to log out.

I just talked to Dave, and he made it to Keesler okay. He’s got a roommate, his dorm room is nice, at least compared to his dorm at basic training, and he’s locked himself out of his room once.

He’s basically confined to post for the first 28 days, and the month after, he’s got some freedom, but not a lot.

In any case, he’s got his work cut out for him.

Robin

Ooh… Spring on the Gulf Coast. Wonderful.

There’s a Shell gas station on the beach near the Beau Rivage, which you should visit. There’s a small plaque at six feet which reads “Storm Surge. April 1970 Hurricane Camille.”

But it’s pretty. And it’ll be warm.

MrC, I don’t want to hear it. The first phase of my tech school (called “A” school in the Navy) lasted six months. The second (had I finished) would have lasted roughly another six to seven months.

Besides, after Dave’s done at Keesler, he’s got a few more months of training with his unit before he’s finished.

Like I said, he’s got his work cut out for him.

Robin

This is Dave, posting from lovely Keesler Air Force Golf Club, which isn’t far from the truth, believe me. When I said about turning the sheets down, little did I know how close to the truth I was.

This, my fine friends, is the life!

I get to wear my uniforms, march around, and just generally act like the professional I’ve become.

And it’s all so easy! Geez, I don’t even have to make a dust cover bed, fold clothes properly, or anything. It’s like a Marriott where the owners can yell at you.

And now, for the big news…at least to me.

I’m a candidate for a green rope, aka Airman Leader. Being the ambitious person that I am, with my sights firmly set on my future, I volunteered to be universally reviled. Imagine that. But hey, it’ll get me my third stripe faster and will go on my personnel record as a Very Good Thing, which is important for me, as I’m trying to decide whether to attempt to become an officer (God forbid), or a T.I., which is not impossible, just very difficult, which is why I need to make some things happen for myself. And school starts on Monday, so I’ll tell you all about that later on when there’s something to tell.

Anyhow, I gotta roll for now. Just checking in. I see things are still the same without me. Damn you all for that.

In closing, Hi Robin. I love you. Talk to you tonight.

And I’ll talk to you all later. Bye.

-A1C David Cartwright

PS-When I said about the T.I. thing, I was dead serious.

Glad you’re there safe and sound, Dave.

And kudos to ya on the green rope. Sounds like Aaron is going to have an old man he can be proud of.

Take care,

Zap!

When you get to Keesler keep an eye open for a guy named Shane Butner. He is my brother and has just recently arrived at Keesler for tech school as well. And just a tip from somone who has been there, take every oppertunity you have to go down to New Orleans while you are in that part of the country. I promise you won’t regret it. Later.

I’m also glad you’re there safe and sound… keep us posted!

Oh sweet Jesus, now I’ve heard everything. . .

May God help us all . . .

I talked to Dave last night, and I’ve got his address. If anyone wants it, please e-mail me (just click the button below), and I’ll send it on. I am moving this weekend, so it might take a bit before I can answer, but I promise I will.

Robin, who thinks Dave would make one hell of an officer.

What can I say, Trip? I’m an ambitious little bastard. If for some reason I can’t make it to OTS, then I’ll be damned if I’m gonna let these fuzzy faced slick-sleeved infants walk around without showing the proper bearing and discipline that I demonstrate while in uniform.

They will act like professionals, or by God I’ll make them do so. I’m gonna be a terror as an NCO, I just just tell.

Oh my God…what am I saying!!! I’m starting to sound like an adult! When did THAT happen?
