So I just saw a trailer for the latest Chucky movie, “Seed of Chucky”. At the end of the trailer there is a disclaimer which states that Britney Spears does not appear in the movie. I don’t know what I missed but I was completely whooshed. Could anyone explain the reason for this disclaimer?
She IS listed in the credits at the IMDB. Perhaps her part was cut at the last minute.
The trailer features a joke where a woman resembling Britney is driving a convertible when Chucky (driving?) causes her car to crash and explode. Since we only see her from the back, the disclaimer may be to make sure people don’t think they’ll be seeing Ms. Spears…
After causing her to crash Chucky proclaims “Oops, I did it again” to show that it is in fact a reference.
and in the preview i saw the convertable’s license plate says “Britany”.
She also looks back over her shoulder and bears a passing resemblance to her.
I’m guessing it’s to waylay her legal team.
Doesn’t someboyd high five Chucky or something after she crashes too? I actually thought it was Britney and was surprised that she would make fun of herself like that.
I don’t think it’s a legal issue, I think it’s just a joke. The target audience for Chucky movies is probably not the same Britney demographic. So, the joke is that it’s a selling point that the movie doesn’t actually have Britney in it.
At least that’s what I thought, but I’m not always the sharpest spoon in the drawer.
Pash
I’d prefer. No Britney was harmed during the making of this film, sorry.
audiobottle in one of the trailers after the crash they cut to John Waters, who is in the bushes at the side of the road, and he says “God bless the little people.”
