I am sooooo looking forward to this. Cadillac Theater downtown Chicago. I consider it my birthday gift to myself. Happy Birthday me! Suck it, JWs I grew up with!
I’m getting off a bus now, so I’ll be back with a review later.

Looks like Joel is one of the riffers. Very cool. Very jealous.
I saw them years ago, skewering “Top Gun.” Had a great time. To this day, I think of their running gag whenever I see, well, anything with Tom Cruise and another co-actor in a scene together.
“Notice how s/he leeeeeans, to give him the height advantage.”
Well, I’m on the bus home, and I had a great time. Laughed a lot, even missed a joke or two from laughing.
No Retreat, No Surrender or “The General Custer Story” as they riffed the title was an 80’s ripoff of The Karate Kid. Son of karate instructor is humiliated by father’s being beaten up by gangsters, and is also beaten by bullies. With the help of his moonwalking Michael Jackson-esque best friend, and the ghost of Bruce Lee, played by a George Takei-esque actor, he eventually beats up the guy who beat up his dad, and wins the respect of the bullies. The End.
Riffing was much better than the skits, which had a running circus theme. Those were not as good as the original show had. Still, happy to see Crow, Tom Servo, and Gypsy.
Oh yes, and Joel too, of course.
According to the website, this is Joel’s last live performance.
I’ve been offered free tickets to this into another show.
Envy. Jealousy. I hope you have fun.
I did. It was in a huge theater, so the 300-400 people in the place were kind of rattling around, but we all had a great time. There was a fan in the lobby with her own Tom Servo, and they had some excellent merch (if I had the money.)
I wound up in the second row, right in front of Joel and the bots!
I’m not saying the audience was the biggest bunch of geeks in Kansas City…but I sure wouldn’t have wanted to have had a computer problem tonight.
