Today I tried to google one of my dumb new coinages to see if one had already been spotted in the wild, and apparently was surprised to see when I entered “Republicspittles” into its search, the google page showed, on the fourth entry down, my SDMB post mentioning the coinage. Unfortunately, the link led to an SDMB page that didn’t show the post, but was able to track it down typing “Republicspittles” in the search field in the Admin. Clusterf**k thread.
(Yay! I birthed a meme!
)
So, like the title says…
Yes, my bosses did 20 years ago, and I got let go.
I made a meme in one of my FB cat groups.
Then about 2 years later I see the exact same meme in another platform.
So I guess that’s my claim to fame. I’ve got a meme that is circulating around all the cat groups on whatever platform. Lol
Years ago, a co-worker asked me a question and didn’t believe the answer I gave him so I told him to google it. About 30 seconds of googling later, he decided he agreed with me. When I asked him what changed his mind, he read me a post from whatever page he was looking at. Then I said “um…what’s the username of the person that wrote that post?”, and IIRC, his reply was “It’s someone named Joey…oh you asshole, it was you”. He managed to dig up an old SDMB post of mine. This guy tends to distrust anything he reads on the internet, so it was funny when I got to say ‘you didn’t believe me when I told you, but you believed me when I was just some random jerk on the internet’.
It used to be common as muck, but after Google went down the drain, not anymore.
