Self-Quarantined In The MMP

It’s Extra Young Priest.

somebody finally slept off her hangover. At 8:00p.m. tonight. Making Chipolte chicken with red rice and beans, tomatoes, and corn. Watching Survivor, which kinda brings a new meaning with current things.

Yay for good customers, Peaches.

Yay for scoring TP, nona.

So they’re Episcopalians, not coconuts?

Worked from bed today and my roommate’s kid is out of school. Roommate took the folder with the lesson plan with her to work, so we had no plan. And since I’m not responsible for her school/homework, I’m not really up to date on what she’s working on. I got some of my own work done and the kid and I did some school- some reading, some math, some music, checked in on a few animal lives streams (the gorillas were my favorite and I think I will probably keep it on in the background as much as possible when I’m not using my computer). I had build-a-pinball-machine kit (like a small one out of wood and plastic, not an actual arcade game), so we did that together. She had a blast with that- that kind of stuff (building, engineering, figuring things out) has always been where she shines.

Her mom came home from work and dragged her away from “school” a couple minutes ago to go hang out with her new boyfriend. I’m completely spent. Like flat on my back with my heating pad and cat. We stayed in my bed while we worked, but it was still a lot- especially the pinball machine. I’m exhausted and starving- haven’t had anything to eat yet today. And pain and fatigue have REALLY set in, so attempting a journey to the kitchen would be… ill-advised.

On a happier but very mundane note, there’s only one TV (well, streaming) show I watch regularly- QI, which I actually sort of depend on a lot (a frankly pathetic amount) right now to sort of bolster my spirits and give me an escape. If you’ve never heard of it, you won’t regret looking it up on Youtube. Anyway, yesterday, it seemed to have disappeared from Britbox. Like it didn’t pop up in searches or anything (but they still had stills from the show in some of their graphics, so that was confusing) and I was… disappointed. Well, I guess it must have been a glitch- QI is back. Crisis averted, you guys. It’s the important things in life we should worry about.

p.s. jesus, when I started this, “a few minutes ago” was like 4:30 and it’s now 8:50. This fatigue is a bitch… but on the other hand, I guess it takes care of the problem of passing the time?

Oh, that kind stranger made me tear up. For the next 30 days, renters in Washington can’t be evicted for not paying rent, and I suspect that’ll be extended. I hope Georgia does the same and that your daughter comes through OK.

Today’s been a good day, considering. In addition to the kind support among the Mumpers, I got an email from someone dear to me that cheered me up, a group of friends has decided we’ll check on each other daily, and I had a very cheery conversation with my brother-in-law, who’s the calm, even-keeled type. I went for a lovely walk. Everyone I met gave me a wide berth. Is it something I said?

Metal Mouse, I LOVE some of those phrases! Trying to decide if I’ll go with a blush of robins or a riot of robins. Maybe it’ll depend on how exuberant they are.

Baker, I don’t think anybody’s going back to work there for a lot longer than two weeks. City officials here instituted a public health emergency plan that goes through June 18th. Stay safe!

I find that now that I’ve faced the worst, I feel a lot better.

I got an email stating that we should prepare to be closed until at least May 11th. That is what 6-7 weeks? I can deal. I will be paid. Bring it on. I have a feeling either tomorrow or Firday will be it. Once I let the acting director know how many of my vendors have closed there will not be much point is being there.

Shit just got real in Pa.

Time to make a run to the nearest state line.

It looks like my sister has COVID-19. They won’t test her because she hasn’t travelled (and they don’t have enough kits). She’s a teacher and we’ve had community cases here. She’s got pneumonia-like symptoms. They won’t let her go into a healthcare facility unless she gets worse and the family is supposed to be under quarantine.

For the record, I hate this very much.

((((Sunny}}}}

Watching the news, I am just feeling overwhelmed by how well and truly fucked we are.

Sunny, I can’t believe they won’t help your sister. Well, I believe, but can’t understand it. Keep us informed, I will pray for you and her.

Mornin’.

Sunny, I’m so sorry about what your sister is having to deal with. You, and your family, included. Good grief. I wish her only the very best.

It’s early. I’m up. I’ve had a massive influx of caffeine. I’m girding my loins for my early morning grocery shopping ordeal. I’m almost sure it’ll be an ordeal. I’m not in the mood for an ordeal. Humbug! I know they’re not going to have a lot of the things I want to get. That’s ok. When hubby gets home, we’ll have to make a trip to the ‘big city’, and go to Meijer, or someplace like that.

I’m currently washing a load of dog bed sheets, a couple of the cat’s throws, and the cat’s pillow. After that, I guess I’ll our laundry started. I want to get it all done, because when my husband makes it home on Saturday, I’ll have this two weeks worth of laundry to do. Always something.

Time for me to go get ready to go. Ick.

Have a good day, folks.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to unjust?) with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Not a lot on the agenda today except I will be makin’ phone calls to the list of my co-parishoners I have been assigned to call. I think I mentioned this earlier, but each person on the Vestry has a list of folks to make weekly contact with for the duration. Sup shall be bbq sammiches, coleslaw, and fries. YUM! I have a poke roast in the slow cooker as I post. It will get shredded and sauced.

EYP = Even Younger Priest. I named the last Priest YP because he was young (in his forties now, so not so young) and current Priest is even younger than he was, hence the name EYP. He’s a good guy and has done a great job dealin’ with the present craziness.

Nona good look foragin’ today! We could go a while without a trip to the sto’ except for milk, bread, aigs, fresh veggies and fresh fruit which we like to have on hand.

{{{CupCakes}}} sorry the job did not work out. If retirement is feasible, I would advise to consider it seriously.

{{{Sunny and Sis}}} hope sis can get treatment/testin’ soonest!

Dot good for you for keepin’ the kid entertained. However, why would her mom take the lesson plan with her? I assume it was a mistake cause otherwise that just sounds weird.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

We had a rainy night and it’s supposed to be overcast, if warm (mid-70s) today. Not sure if I’ll get outside or not - we’ll see.

RoxStar is fully wired this morning. Her mama went back to bed and I’m watching her go crazy with her grandpa. I guess we’ll have to try to get her outside for a while to run off steam.

My only plan for today is a run to the credit union to cash a check - easily done at the drive-thru. I may push the vacuum around, too. So not much on the agenda.

**Sunny **- good thought for your sis. Try not to fret too much - it’s not good for you.

Onward!! Happy Wednesday (sans wiggle-giggle. :frowning: )

Morning, mumpers! I hope everyone is keeping safe and not joining in the general panic and stupidity that seems to be so infectious.

(((((Sunny and sis))))) - I hope she manages to get some treatment soon and wish you all the best.

Today I am back in the office with my team, it feels very strange to be here. Everyone’s been commenting on the empty roads, empty trains/buses and the fact that a lot of places on campus are now deserted. Our catering facilities are closing down at the end of the week (we have a few Starbucks/Costa Coffee outlets) because all face-to-face teaching has finished. We’re all here today but planning to start working remotely as soon as the Vice-Chancellor gives the go-ahead. I’ve told my team it’s up to them what they want to do, as long as they tell me.

I have one guy with a 6-month old baby at home, and one guy who moved back home to care for his elderly parents. Another of my team has diabetes. I’ve told them all to work from home as soon as they want to. I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable being in the office, or travelling to campus.

The idiocy of panic-buying in the supermarket continues, I know we have enough food for ourselves for a while so I am not too concerned. I am intelligent enough to know that even a complete lockdown doesn’t mean essential food supplies have to stop. I’m kind of looking forward to working from home though, my daily commute is 1.5hrs each way so I’m having that time back. Extra cat-fussing time!

Morning all. Need to go out to mail some bills, gas up car, and maybe buy something. Two days not leaving the house is about all I can stand. 66F outside already, so house should stay comfy. Managed to get the garbage and the recycleables out late last night (The recycle truck only stops once a month).

{{Cupcakes}}, a letter is not uncommon, but I’m sorry the job didn’t come through. Keep trying.

{{Sunny}} and and extra {{ }} for your sis, I hope it doesn’t get to severe; and it says something about our hospitals that they can’t take her unless she gets sicker…

Dot, hope you got something to eat; can the young one bring you sustenance?

Good luck on the shopping expedition, nona. A new IGA opened this week close to me; heck of a week for your Grand Opening…

Peaches, hooray for the good people; even with crazies all about, there are still a lot of them around.

boofae, you sound like a good boss.

Have a good Thorsday, all.

Speaking of grand openings, there’s a restaurant in Leonardtown that has had at least half a dozen different incarnations. Twenty years ago, it was Perkins. Since we moved here 16 years ago, it’s been a pizza place, a bento box place, a Vietnamese restaurant, a Cajun place, and most recently, a “tavern.” The signs out front now proclaim it’ll be “Happy Seafood House” coming soon. I guess their grand opening won’t come for some time, anyway. The other day, I saw their propane tank being dug up and (I assume) replaced. No hiring signs yet either. Wonder how long this one will last?

I’m self quarantining and working from home although there isn’t much work. I am going into the office later for a virtual meeting and do some accounting stuff that I don’t trust to get done over the remote network login. I work in a hospital, non clinical, but given the bronchitis that ended me in the ED in November, I’m not taking any chances. Tonight’s dinner is leftover country ribs, green beans, and baked taties. I don’t cook much during the week because I’m too tired when I get home. It’s nice to have real cooked food. And yes swampy, I have enough TP, although some of it is single ply…

We must all make sacrifices in these trying times…

Crap - I’m a day off! Happy Thursday!

Just back from Food Lion - they’re doing a major remodel and I had to wander all the aisles to relearn where everything is. It wasn’t too crazy, so there’s that.

Lunch time!
