The orange dipstick has recommended that Darline Graham Nordone be appointed to temporarily take his place. Once again he inserts himself into a matter that he has no fucking say in and the recommended person has no qualifications other than being Lindsey’s sister.

We recently did a case review at my hospital which included a walk in pt complaining of foot pain without any trauma history. Dr noted unequal pulses in the feet and did a CT which revealed a dissection that was salvageable (pain was probably ischemia). It’s true that with severe, classic symptoms, like the ones they probably discussed on the Today Show, you’ve got a short window, but it’s not pointless.
For example, high blood pressure is a risk factor and probably present when it starts to occur, getting that down can buy you a lot of time.

As a hospital pharmacist, I was involved in the treatment of several cases of aortic dissection with varying outcomes. It depends on the degree of dissection, or in some cases the age and condition of the patient.
(I can tell you the following because I heard about it outside the hospital.) There was one woman in her 90s who attended my church, and she was admitted to the hospital with one of these. She asked the doctors if it could be repaired, and they said, “Yes, there’s an operation but you wouldn’t survive it.” “What if I go to St. Louis?” “You won’t survive it there, either.” So, she was kept comfortable in the hospital for several days until it blew, and she died quickly.
This woman, in her younger days, had been in a chorus line and later taught tap dancing. At 85 years of age, the church had a talent show which was mostly kids playing their band instruments, and you guessed it: she showed up in full regalia, with sequined top hat and cane, etc. and brought the house down. You just know that kept her healthy!

Coming from such a conservative state as South Carolina, that’s pretty unlikely. But given the alternatives, a South Carolina senator who has never praised Donald Trump by name is something.
I fear she will take office and be quickly shown lots of hate posts and mail coming from Democrats. If so, Democratic own goal.
