Send me on assignment!

Yay! I just got the digital camera I’ve been waiting for from my husband & daughter as an advanced birthday present: Canon’s PowerShot A75.

It’s got way more features than I know how to use, so I’m going to have to do some learning. What better way than to start taking pictures? Other than the usual family shots, I was trying to decide what to snap. Other than this, I don’t know.

So, send me on assignment. You tell me what to photograph, sort of like a scavenger hunt but with pictures.

Hey, BTW, anyone else got one of these cameras? How do you like it? Let’s see your album!

Close-ups of some lung-cookies?

You have any pretty trees or some cute critters about? I love me some trees and critters.

How about some unusual landmark in your town? The goofier, the better

Self portraits. Duh.

Yeah…self portraits! Of some cute girls!!

And your front steps.

How about a walking (bonus points: from a kid’s perspective, then an adult’s) tour of the house/yard/etc.?

Heh, heh. Well, give me some time to work up a good one for ya!

I just discovered you can’t view my imagestation album unless you’re a member. Oops. So, I’m uploading new shots to my t-mobile album here.

Now, let’s see if links to the individual photos works.

Harimad-sol, here’s a lovely tree. Sorry about the power lines. I didn’t notice them when I was taking the shot.

Aesiron, here’s your self-portrait. Sorry Standup Karmic, I’m not as cute as I used to be.

Actually, as I’ve already made a photo album of my yard last spring when I very briefly became interested in gardening, I think I’ll save this until we actually finish our Halloween decorating. And I’ll have Cinnamon-little take the shots. She does take awesome photos already!

Dang, I’m out of ciggies. Guess it’s time for bed. :frowning:

Great! You have the fall foliage we are only going to get in three weeks or so, if we’re lucky.

One of the joys of lovely Ohio. Kinda takes the sting out of being a swing (state). Harimad-sol, your name looks so much better in bold. Didn’t want you to think I was dissing ya.

Haven’t been out much today, except for going to work, so I’m still behind on my assignments, but I added:

More later…

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: Gum, you commented in my album! That is so cool. Thank you very much! See, it’s the little things in life that mean the most…

You’re very welcome, Cinnamon Girl. I think you’re a cool lady and your photos are awesome.

Besides: Anything for a fellow cookie-collector.

Cool shots, Cinnamon Girl! Ohioan here too.
Here are a couple of sites that give you picture assignments daily and weekly.

http://www.photofriday.com
Wordphoto.org is my favorite and I occasionally submit my photos there.

Here are some of my very amateur photos taken around the neighborhood and house with a Sony Mavica FD-83:

Considering how repressed Cincinnatians tend to be, it was a bit difficult coming up with a truly goofy landmark. Nothing here like a giant ball of yarn or anything. So, here’s the best I could do:

Welcome to the Jungle…

It’s grocery store called Jungle Jim’s and it’s pretty weird. The owner has achieved a modicum of notoriety for his wacked idea of turning a grocery store into some sort of entertainment venue. There are better pictures on the website. Sorry, about the crap quality of mine (I’m still learning how to use this camera obviously), but here’s a couple more:

> jungle scene in front (yes, that’s a waterfall to the left of the baby giraffe)
> big-ass giraffe
> Elvis is in the building

I did find that despite all the money obviously spent on this place, they do have pretty good prices and great sales, too. And the product selection cannot be beat. They even have my cloves cheaper than anywhere in Cincinnati and No. Kentucky. Hooyah!

Assignment complete. Next?

Hey there, devilsknew, nice to meet ya! Nice photos, too! My shoot today didn’t go so well. I had my kiddo with me and she was buggin today. The weather sucked which means that we also missed what was to be a lovely lunar eclipse. I’m a little down about it. Oh, well. On to the next assignment.

I’ll be checking out Wordphoto.org. Looks like fun; thanks much!

Great photos, Cinnamon Girl! Jungle Jim’s…funny idea. I’ll definitely think of that next time I go to boring old Kroger.

How about some puppy pictures? Puppies always make me happy.

Or, how about a picture of a really old couple that seems to be in love, a real wrinkly couple, with a twinkle in their eyes?
