A former friend of mine suffered a stroke 2 days ago. She just gave birth to her first child a week prior and now she’s in the hospital. Her husband is taking care of their little girl with help from her family.
I haven’t spoken to either of them in over 3 years, but I’d like to send a card to let them know I’m thinking about them. We were friends for several years, but we had a huge falling out and it’s been unresolved ever since. I’m not looking to renew the friendship, just to send some good thoughts their way. But I don’t know exactly what to say in my card, and I’m here for suggestions. Just saying “Thinking of you, hope everything works out” is pretty bare…and I suck with cards anyway, even birthday ones, so I’m at a loss.
What would you write?
“I’m so sorry to hear of everything you are going through. You are in my thoughts at this difficult time.”
Yeah, what gigi said is fine.
In this case I truly believe “it’s the thought that counts.” Your friend can choose to interpret the message however she wants - and I’m pretty sure it’ll be a favorable response.
OK, guess I will go with that. Thanks!
