Sending private messages

I recently tried to send a private message to clear up a misunderstanding, and saw the following:

Small British Shop Owner, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else’s post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Is this because I am a guest, or am I doing something wrong?

If anyone is interested why, I believe it was because a comment of mine, the penultimate post in the thread Rico just closed, was misconstrued as talking about illegal activities when I was asking what the Home Office (British equivilent of quite a few US departments) could authorise one to do.

IANAM.

But I’m pretty sure that, yes, it is because you are a guest, and one of he privileges of membership is the use of the PM function.

You are a guest and not a member. Membership does have perks that go with it.

And just wait till you see the *secret * perks that we don’t tell guests about.

Sometimes I walk around wearing nothing but my perks.

I sometimes poison pigeons in my perks.

I’m using my perks right now…and loving it!

I’m feeling especially perky today.

Some guy just called me a Perk and I just smiled back.

No, that was “perp”. :stuck_out_tongue: Or was it “perv”?

sorry. got nothing. :smack:

I hope you join the SDMB. You may be a sexual deviant, but none the less, you have interesting posts.

Would you like me to send a PM to **Bridget ** for you?

I must confess that I’m starting to consider it.

I’m really glad to hear that!

Count me among those who look forward to your participation.

Take the plunge! Less than tuppence a day! (at current exchange rates)

I just jizzed all over my perks…
What? Too much?

Slightly.
