I’m hip deep in a futile rewrite of a book that needs to be thrown into a dumpster fire and written from scratch, except I can’t because my agent has already put in the time to edit it, so I’m wasting my time trying to “fix” it to show her I’m a good trooper.

And this morning she hits me with an email full of concerns about the new book. To wit, the opening isn’t strong enough and not enough happens in the first third. And I was feeling really damn good about that book.

I am the worst fucking writer ever. I mean, I read my stuff and I think it’s okay (until I go back to rewrite my first novel, and want to tear my face off, the storytelling is so sub-optimal) but obviously it’s not okay because I’m stuck in fucking rewrite HELL and it won’t stop happening.

Oh well. I guess as long as I’m rewriting, I’m not doing anything new to generate more rewrites. How does that come out in the end, huh?

Sounds like Dyshidrosis, which commonly occurs on the sides of the fingers. My sister and I both get it. Stress is a pretty common trigger.

This. I’ve been periodically getting these on the sides of my fingers for almost 50 years. They’re slightly itchy and harmless.

Thanks! This explains a lot. I was wondering what I might have touched that set up some sort of allergic reaction, but this makes sense.

I seem to have little non painful blisters - some sort of rash, perhaps - along the edges of both index fingers. And I have no idea why.

I get them on my toes. I have a few blisters right now, and they only bother me because of where the blisters are. They’re right where my big toe bumps against the next toe. Not exactly painful, but very annoying.
