Apologies if this has already been posted this year. I searched and didn’t find anything.
The September Guy did it again. For the past six years, he’s released a video on Sept 21, dancing to the song, “September”, by Earth, Wind and Fire, and uses the attention to drive donations for charities. They’re always funny and fun to watch, but this year, he outdid himself. An exponential leap in effort and quality. . .though the sound is off. You MAY have to turn up your volume for this year’s video. Remember to turn it back down again afterwards!
NUTS. Just realized the phrase, “though the sound is off” should be, “though the sound SEEMS off.” A potentially important distinction. There is sound, but the level’s off, and many have complained they couldn’t hear people talking.
Thank you for your permission, but he is more widely known as the “September Guy”, which he even references in his last video, if you bother to watch it. If I used his name, I would be genuinely surprised if even one person recognized it.
Sure, for the title. But it still read a bit weird to me that you never mentioned his name in the post at all. Until I actually clicked through to his YouTube channel, I thought you didn’t know it.
I doubt you deliberately left it out or anything. But I would normally have expected your post to start out with “The September Guy did it again. For the past six years, Demi Adejuyigbe has released a video on September 21[…]”
It’s not remotely a big deal, and I wouldn’t have said a thing had someone else not mentioned it.
This sentence read a bit weird to me that you did not mention the guys name in the sentence that you were admonishing someone else for not using his name.
It’s totally not a big deal and I wouldn’t have admonished you if you hadn’t admonished someone else.
For anyone interested, here is a really great re-mix of September (and Fatboy Slim’s The Joker) from the Tokyo nightclub/MDMA scene in the movie Babel.
I really love this and now I can’t even hear the original version in my head anymore… only this one.
That link is to the motion picture soundtrack version. There’s only a still of the movie poster the entire time but it’s a longer version of the mix which is cool.
Below is a link to a clip of the actual movie scene. The song is cut down here but the scene is really good. Well-directed and acted with really good editing.
