Serenity: Those Left Behind graphic novel--worth getting?

Anyone here read the Serenity graphic novel, Those Left Behind? I’m a huge Firefly fan and Buffy fan. Recently read the Buffy Season 8 graphic novel, which I liked. Is TLB worth picking up, or not?

I didn’t care for it. They brought back one character who should have been left where he was, and wrapped up a couple other loose ends that would have been better served left loose.

I liked it well enough. There’s also a new Serenity 3-issue mini that just began last week that’s starting out nicely.

It’s a lukewarm one off tale. I wouldn’t bother unless you have nothing better to do.

If you’re a big enough fan go for it. i really like Nathan Fillion’s little introduction letter thing, and some of the art is great. Plus it’s the closest you’re going to get to closing the “hands of blue” storyline.

I liked that he came back. And Joss said he would have been a recurring villain in more or less that form if the show had continued, so it was fun to get at least a little of that.

No, it’s pretty much rubbish. It explains exactly why Sheperd Book left reasonably well, but the “Hands Of Blue” dudes are written out ridiculously.

MASSIVE SPOILERS: This is the plot, so don’t read any further if you don’t want to know. Really. You’ve been warned.

Remember Dawson, the Fed who Mal capped in the thread in the first episode. He ain’t really dead, he just lost an eye, and now he’s devoted his life {and some inexplicable resources} to hunting down Mal. Hands Of Blue dudes turn up, offer him a deal whereby they’ll work with him to track down Mal so they can get River. Badger’s somehow in on this, and gives Mal the co-ordinates to a fabulous wartime treasure in a spaceship graveyard. Naturally it’s a trap: Dawson and his band of cutthroats {?} are lying in wait on a the derelict ship, not that it does them much good as Dawson just gets shot again. Meanwhile the HoB’s are trying to bust in Serenity, but are repulsed by Simon wielding one of Jayne’s weights bars {?}. Wash does some tricky flying to scrape their little ship off the hull, and then their ship is incinerated when Serenity hits the gas. The whole sorry farrago ends with the Operative picking up the contract on River.

I was underwhelmed, but for the sake of Firefly/Serenity completeness, I suppose you might wanna take a look.
