Has anyone seen a Serenity trailer on any channel other than sci-fi?
I think Fox has been showing it.
Rather ironic, considering…
Serenity Now!
Yep. Caught one on Fox, and I think I saw one on ABC.
Can’t stop the signal.
I’ve seen it on SciFi, Fox, WB, and I think ABC Family once.
Looks nummy.
It’s on VH-1 and Mtv quite a bit in the mornings.*
- Yes, I leave those channels on when I’m brushing my teeth and eating breakfast in the morning. Yes, I’m lame. I freely admit it.
Saw it once on Fox (During the Simpsons) and once on NBC (during Medium).
What I want to know is how non Browncoats are reacting to them. I would be excited about the movie if the trailer was a shot of a cornfield with “Serenity” printed across it, but I am a fan. I wonder if the average moviegoer is thinking “Wow! I must scurry off and see that on opening night!” or “What the heck is this stuff??”
I never saw the show, but the trailer has me intrigued. I enjoy some sci-fi, and Serenity looks entertaining. It’s not one of my “must go see on opening night” movies, but I would like to see it in theaters.
They had a couple ads during WWE Monday Night Raw this week, and we saw another ad last night. Can’t remember which show it was during, but it was either *Bones * or Supernatural.
We saw the movie two weeks ago with a friend who never saw the show, and he loved the movie and immediately borrowed our DVDs. If they can just get butts in the seats the first weekend, I think word of mouth might be really good for the movie.
I saw the trailer and was fairly indifferent. A while later (like, half a week ago) I watched what there was of the actual series and now I’m really looking forward to it!
But the trailer doesn’t do Firefly OR Serenity any favors: it looks like Buffy the Vampire Slayer in space and it was only through watching the show that I realised it probably won’t be.
I actually think making River the focus of the movie is a bad idea in that way; too many obvious parallels to Joss Whedon’s other series (which I personally don’t care for). It makes it seem like Firefly is all about River the scifi Buffy when in the show she was really much more of a supporting character, and not even close to an improbably sexy kung fu-er.
Anyway, that’s my take on it.
I saw the trailer on ESPN a few days ago. I think it’s great. Starting off with the gang pulling off a robbery and the voice over “… and these are the good guys”. It doesn’t even vaguely resemble “Buffy In Space”; I’m not sure what’s giving that impression.
I agree. The only good think about the series is that it ended before it became River, The Musical.
I wish River and Westley would run away together. Both series would improve.
Add Comedy Central to the list, now.
It’s actually getting pretty good media coverage, I think.
