Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

I love it too. We’ve been very leisurely working our way through for the past year or so, and we’re down to the last 4 episodes. Wondering what it will be like without Justin Roiland.

Still slogging through Succession. If Roman was my kid, I’d strangle him and give the world some relief.

I’m liking season 2 so far better than season 1 (for which I was lukewarm at best). This season looks like it has a bit of Schmair, too. Maybe we can look forward to future seasons with things such as Schmats, Schmittle Shop of Schmorror, and Schmest Schmide Schmory.

I’m probably watching that one tonight.

Hey, can I play that game? The clip I saw on some late night talk show had a bit of “Into the Schwoods” (did I do it right?)

I would have gone with Schminto the Woods, but I’ll allow it.

I just finished Three Pines on Prime. I liked it very much. I’m very disappointed that there won’t be a season 2.

I’ve also just watched Billions on Prime, through season 5, I think. It’s fun and I’d like to watch more, but I’m not sure I want to pay more than what I’m already paying to Prime for the rest of the series.

I need a new series.

You’ve seen the best of Billions of you watched through season 5.
6 and 7 are watchable, but it’s not the same show without Damien Lewis. I wouldn’t lose any sleep about missing it.

Two episodes in and I’m enjoying the hell out of Schmigadoon! I can’t explain the charm, but I like the lighthearted tone, the humor in the musical numbers and the basic setup. It reminds me of Oklahoma! and I was in pit orchestra for that in high school, so I’ve seen it eighty billion times.

Picked up Season 3 of Mythic Quest. So far, so good. Though I think it’s kind of lame how they wrote CW out. I understand the actor left the show quite abruptly, but I think they could have done better.

And we are watching Season 3 of Ted Lasso, why do you think we re-upped our AppleTV+ subscription in the first place? This show is so incredibly good at knowing why it works, and doing what it does best. And I love that it has a moral compass. Sucked right back in.

Meanwhile, we are slogging through The Last Of Us, and I am afraid it is starting to feel like a slog. It’s just a relentlessly cynical show and frankly scary as hell. Both make it hard to endure at times. Not to mention gross. Like, watching over dinner is right out, so that doesn’t give us a lot of free time to watch.

I saw Damian Lewis on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert a couple of months ago, and he said that Bobby Alexrod, his Billions character, is returning. (Incidentally, the reason they wrote the character out of the show is that Damian Lewis’s wife died in real life and he wanted to spend more time with his children.) I do agree that Billions isn’t nearly as much fun without him there, playing against Paul Giamatti’s character, Chuck Rhoades.

And BTW, only the sixth season has aired; the seventh season hasn’t.

Schmoklahoma!.

Since you have Apple+, you should try Hello, Tomorrow.

(I gave up on The Last of Us after two episodes. I think it is boring to watch somebody else play a video game.)

I cry Foul! That goose was CGI!

There’s a season 2? Awesome! Loved the first season.

Have started watching Will Trent on Disney+. Another law enforcement procedural featuring quirky and dysfunctional protagonists. Two episodes in and still watching. We’ll see whether it delivers.

Also started Represent on Netflix about a young poor black man who ends up running for President of France. The show is quite funny but I’m not quite sure the show’s comedy style and my personal sense of humor match up yet.

the first series miss fisher was a “free-spirited” flapper in 1920s Australia who hobbed nobbed with various hoipolli and the last episode she ran off to marry a sheepman …but the original mysteries were of the murder she wrote style with a “shocking” twist … well shocking for the mid-20s anyways …

The hoi polloi are actually the common folk. And though she does hang out with a lot of regular people, I don’t think that counts as hobnobbing.

Enjoyed the first season of “the Mandelorian”. The second season is a real slog, I’m not hearing good things about the third season and if they are now resorting to novelty casting then I think I’ll pass.

On a more positive note, I’m re-watching the first (and what will be the only ever) series of “Quacks”. It is the first time the rest of the family have seen it and they are loving it too. Only 6 episodes though, that’s yer lot.

Lots of familiar faces. A slightly more adult and gory “Ghosts” is how I’d describe it.
Andrew Scott as Charles Dickens is a delight.

Just watched Season 1 of Ridley. With Adrian Dunbar (from Line of Duty) as the title character. He’s a retired detective, sort of. Suffered a horrible personal loss. Helps his old team solve crimes new and old. 4 double length episodes.

Also has the amazing Julie Graham in a too small role.

I would recommend it highly except …

Ridley is a wanna-be jazz singer. So he sings in the show. Full songs. This is Not Good. Can’t always skip thru the songs since sometimes there’s video montages also running.

I just finished “Beef” starting Ali Wong & Steven Yeun on Netflix- I thought it was original, (darkly)funny and thought-provoking. Not at all what I was expecting.

Worse. It was very obvious. But I liked this episode. Both of the “drinks with co-workers” parts worked.

P.S. Please ask you doxies to send their doggy wishes to my Max, who just passed. Thx.

Very sorry. The Crew and I are on it. I’ll toast him often in the coming hours.
