Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

Rewatched Lincoln Lawyer S1 and started S2. This series runs right on the edge of boring me senseless, but for some reason we keep watching. The lead actor is the opposite of charismatic, and the rest are clichés.

Lincoln Lawyer - I enjoyed the first season and watched the E1 of S2. I haven’t gone back in yet. For one thing, it seems to have been so long since I watched S1 that I couldn’t remember all that went on. I felt a bit lost. Another thing is that it just didn’t grab me like the first season. I’ll give it one more try.

That’s why we re-watched S1. S2 has most of the elements and characters from S1.

I’ve enjoyed The Lincoln Lawyer so far, but with the LA setting and the ex-wife and daughter it does feel a bit Bosch-lite.

We watched Superpowered: The DC Story on (fka HBO) Max. Three one-hour episodes, so I guess that counts as a series.

If you like superhero stuff even a little bit, you’ll probably enjoy it. It covers the DC characters through comic books, movies, and TV, as well as profiling some of DC’s writers and artists. There’s also a look at a few lesser-known characters.

It’s a little disjointed at times, but fun. True comic book geeks might not learn anything new, but I did.

Funny, because LL is one of my wife’s favorite movies. I recently read most of Connelly’s Bosch/LL novels, and we watched Bosch (detesting his daughter.) We watched S1 of LL, tho I really don’t remember ANYTHING about it other than just not being grabbed by the main character. So we were primed to be fans.

Recently watched Ep1 of S1, and neither of us had any idea what was happening, and nothing happened that grabbed us enough to stick with it to find out. Didn’t even finish the 1st ep.

Including what looks like the same house he lived in.

Yes! My other half said exactly that. And he also likes jazz I think.

Same. I am a fan of Connelly’s novels, including both the Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer series. I slogged my way through S1 of LL, but the actor playing Haller is soooooooooo affectless and bland. How the hell did he get that part? Why did anyone think he was right for it? Haller in the books is a player, he’s suave and savvy, and a little rough around the edges. That guy is a fucking 2x4 in a suit. I am not going to bother with S2, sadly.

Very apt description. Actually, most of the characters in this seem miscast, including the “bad-ass bikers”. The bad guys are fairly convincing. I think we’re just desperate at this point, waiting for Justified and Dark Winds to drop more episodes before we start them.

Also, I just watched 2S2 and it has Elliott fucking Gould in it. Can’t stand the guy nor the two "t"s in his name.

Just finished Season 3 of Witcher and all I can say is…“That’s it?” I seriously googled thinking that there were more episodes coming. I guess after this I don’t blame Cavill for leaving. This season was just sort of limp.

The last episode of Hijack on Apple TV dropped. It was quite entertaining but none of the decisions any of the characters make are the least bit plausible. One question for anyone else who watched it…

Did one of the bad guys released from prison (and his henchman) get away? With a huge profit from shorting airline stock? Did I miss a scene of them getting caught in the final montage, or is this fodder for season 2?

Yes. One of the two bad guys seemed to get away, after having his henchman murder the other bad guy and apparently get away. Though I think the authorities might be able to seize the profits from the short sale, on the basis of using insider information, in addition to the criminal conspiracy.

Kinda struggling with the new Justified series.

The first two episodes of the new Justified had way too much information and characters crammed into them. We had a hard time following it at times. The third episode was much better. We haven’t watched the latest episode yet.

The first two eps of S3 of Reservation Dogs. It’s a mixed bag of sly humor and unintelligible (to this white man) story line.

The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning - on Peacock. A little formulaic but very engaging show.

We finished Hacks last night. It took a few eps to warm up to the characters, but the wife and I both ended up really liking it.

According to IMDb, there will be a third season. I’ll watch it, but I think the end of season 2 was a perfect end to the series. It felt very true-to-life, in that people can be a very big part of your life for a while, and then they’re not. It was a bittersweet but organic conclusion to the relationship. Bringing Ava and Deborah back together will be tricky without it feeling contrived. We’ll see.
