“Norovirus again?”

The Traitors

It’s the game mafia played in reality show format for a cash prize. There are two seasons UK, two seasons USA, two seasons Australia, and one season of NZ on Peacock.

We are just finishing the NZ one and have seen the rest. Wow, it’s a fun show. We kidn of love it.

Australia was definitely the best version. Best host, best groups, best results.

UK was also really great. Like Claudia Winkleman, the casts were great.

USA has been fun, too. Alan Cumming is a hoot and the games have been pretty good.

Watching New Zealand now, not ready to render a verdict.

Note: We, the viewer, know who the Traitors(Mafia) are the entire game and who the Faithful(town) are. It’s not like the Mole where we are in the dark as well.

I’m going to give Doctor Odyssey a second chance for the reason you stated about pilots always having to cram so much exposition. I’m not sure how much they’ll be able to sustain a “disease of the week” format, but it’s possible they’ll find some other plot lines in future episodes.

High Potential is a puzzler. After watching the pilot I almost didn’t want to watch another episode because I found the premise laughable a nd the main character incredibly annoying. But the second episode toned her down a bit, and the plot was a bit more interesting, so I’ll be giving it one more shot to impress me.

There’s a new Canadian show on the CW, Murder in a Small Town which I will not be watching any more of, however. The main character and his relationship/job issues almost made me turn it off two-thirds of the way through it, and it didn’t improve from there.

I think this is a trope, or lazy writing, or poor research…but any genius / high-functioning autistic character has to be portrayed as annoying.

To a certain extent I can accept the premise that people who, for whatever reason, have socialization problems can be annoying. In the case of this woman she seems to realize that her behavior is annoying, but just doesn’t care. As a point of information, I have a friend whose son is a high-functioning autistic; he has learned over the years to control most of his “unacceptable” actions (like interrupting other people’s conversations). This woman apparently has not.

It’s from Ryan Murphy, who created 911 and 911: Lone Star (among other shows) so it’s more like 911 on the high seas.

Thanks for the rec; I just finished watching both seasons, and was quite impressed.

It had been a long while since I read any of Tony Hillerman’s books, which was probably just as well for my appreciation of the show, as the series does seem like more of a reboot than a direct adaptation.

But I subsequently reread People of Darkness, and I think both the book and the show hold up well in their slightly divergent worlds. Even if the viewer/reader is more consciously aware of their differences.

New shows we watched:
Doc Odyssey - meh. I doubt if we’ll go back. It seemed kinda cheesy.
Matlock (new one with Kathy Bates) - We really liked it.
Brilliant Minds - We watched about 15 minutes. My husband was out. I think I’m still in. It will be a show I watch on my own. I haven’t finished the first episode yet, so I’ll be able to get more of a feel once I finish it.

Watching the second season of Dark Wind; we liked the first one a lot. In this one the nemesis has a little Anton Chigurh vibe, but that’s basically true to the book.

I like that the second season leaps to book 4 of Hillerman’s series, which is where Chee was actually introduced.

We tried it. Don Johnson is great. However, there was a thing about the Doctor getting into a romantic thing with his NP (Nurse practitioner) and both my wife and I said “ewww”. creepy. No having a relationship with someone who reports to you. That may go away., but if it doesnt, the show has jumped the shark. Also the who medical crew out in one search boat, and of course the Doctor jumping into the ocean to save the guy- whereas they has lifesaver experts to do exactly that.

It had good moments and bad.

Interesting, anyway.

My first thought was that normally, a show would drag out the will-they-won’t-they romantic tension over a couple of seasons, but this one disposed of it in the pilot episode. But as you say: it would be wildly inappropriate and one hopes they never go there (if it lasts that long).

“The House Boat.”

Speaking of will they/won’t they and doctor shows, Grey’s Anatomy took care of this at the very beginning. First episode, first scene, Meredith and Derek are shown waking up from the previous evening’s one night stand. Meredith became Derek’s Neuro protégé. But it worked. (Well, for a while. The show is still on but just a ghost of the early seasons.)

Is it?

Oh sweet Jesus, it is.

I had a moment like that recently. My wife and I always used to joke during fall previews “Is that still on?” And then a while back we were trying to remember when it finally went off the air. So I looked it up… :hushed:

They just reviewed this on NPR’s Fresh Air, and positively raved about it. Looks like I’ll need to break the tie.

A few days ago I got an email from IMDb with a link to a slideshow of “cancelled or renewed?” shows. So of course I went to check it out. After a while I found myself saying, “don’t care”, “never heard of it”, and “is THAT still on?”, more often than “oh, good” (and in at least one case, “damn, I liked that”).

Two of my co-workers really like it, and I know they must have excellent senses of humor because they laugh at all my jokes. I watched 2 episodes, but found almost all the characters to be impossibly dumb caricatures, with the possible exception of the male lead. I may still give it another try though, based on my co-workers’ opinions. Idk if part of the disconnect is because I’m AJAB (assigned Jewish at birth) and they’re not.

I see that not only has season 3 of The Cleaner just come out but I also missed season 2.

I’m currently on episode 8 of Average Joe on Netflix. Not bad. A plumber’s dad died and he learns that his dad had stolen millions of dollars from the Russian mafia. He and his friends/family scheme to find and keep the cash.

My only problem with it is that the series is supposedly set in Pittsburgh. Nothing looks like Pittsburgh. Turns out they actually filmed in Atlanta.

There will be a second season.
