I just binged the heck out of Bodkin, a Netflix series set in Ireland. It is a dark comedy mystery thriller about a podcaster looking into an old mystery in the town of Bodkin.
I liked it.

We just started watching The Sticky last night. We only watched the first episode, but so far so good. We BOTH like it!
Let me know how you like the ending, which seemed abrupt and inconclusive to us. This show had amusing content, but always seemed to stop short of being truly good. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the introduction of Jamie Lee Curtis gave it a major boost.
What Chefguy spoilered isn’t any plot item from The Sticky but just the fact that it ends without resolving basically anything. Don’t go into it expecting it to work as a single self-contained miniseries like a season of Fargo, they are actually hoping for a five season arc.
Ah, that would explain things then. Can’t imagine what they’re going to do with five seasons, though.
I just finished Hijack on Apple+ as mentioned earlier. Seven episodes with a stellar British cast. A gradual building of tension and an unexpected plot line. No over-the-top heroics that you would expect from an American production. Highly recommend.
We watched the last episode of Somebody Somewhere, and at the end I told my wife that it was the final episode. “Of the season?,” she asked. “No, of the series.” “But I love that show!” It’s like losing some new friends. We know some single people like those in the show; they showed how hard it can be to figure out how you fit it in the world.
And Jeff Hiller is a hoot!
Oh, I didn’t know either. I love that show, too! That last scene was so perfect.
Now show her Firefly.
Currently, I’m in the middle of Kaos on Netflix and liking it quite a bit so far. Hopefully, it keeps up the quality till the end.
Oh gawd, so true. I recently watched Firefly for the first time and had that same reaction. It felt like graduating from high school and the next day realizing you’ll probably never see these people again.
Now ask me how I feel about Wonderfalls.
It does, but it’s been cancelled. No Season two.
Awe poop, and I was just falling in love…
If it hasn’t already been mentioned, a new season of “Shetland” has started. My wife and I discovered S9E1 on Britbox last night. Just as riveting as always.
Man, what a waste of a cancellation that was. Wonderfalls was awesome and they had three seasons of general show arc already planned. I’m pretty sure it would have been great.
Very atmospheric.
I concur. I mean obviously any show like that can go on too long, but Wonderfalls was still doing fine.
Stopped rewatching Yellowjackets and am gonna drop it. Realizing it’s not as good a show as I thought it was. I’ll still be watching Anne with an E and I’ll try my hand at Nos4a2. I might try watching Lost again too.
I believe Nos4a2 ended with zero resolution. Just cancelled with hanging plotlines, etc.
Just letting you know.
Oh, ok. Thank you.
We just finished rewatching Wolf Hall, too. We saw it when it first came out in 2015, but oddly, didn’t remember much of it from that time. Must be getting old.
As I was watching, I couldn’t help but compare that characters of Cromwell and Thomas More with how they are portrayed in A Man for All Seasons. in that play and film, Cromwell is the villain and More the hero. (His torturing of heretics is not touched on.) in Wolf Hall, while the positions aren’t exactly reversed, and both are more subtly and ambiguously depicted, Cromwell is seen more sympathetically.
I said to my wife that Wolf Hall is to A Man for All Seasons as Wicked is to The Wizard of Oz.
It’s somewhat remarkable that they’re doing a second season, with most of the original cast, ten years after the first. The events of most of Season 2 are only a year or two after the end of Season 1.
Do you recommend watching, say the first x episodes of Yellowjackets? I was intrigued by the premise and Christina Ricci having a prominent role. Watched episode 1 and was really exhausted by the three timelines gimmick.
I rewatched most of Lost some years ago. I think it actually improves when you vaguely remember that, no they’re never gonna explain most of the weird stuff so just enjoy the gorgeus scenery, the variety of the flashback stories and the (mostly) great acting.
