We didn’t continue it when Henshall left, but you continuing it must mean that S8 was good…maybe we’ll look again.
I’d say give it a shot, at least for an episode or two. I do miss Jimmy Perez, but I think the stories are just as well written.
Benidorm (Prime, 9 se.) A British comedy series about the Spanish seaside town of Benidorm and it’s trashy British tourists. I am three episodes in and I like it. Recommended for fans of British or even Commonwealth sitcoms. It’s nice background as you quickly get to know the characters and the scenes are just plays on the same themes.
I remember enjoying a couple of seasons of Benidorm, but I lost interest in it after a while. It just seemed kind of generic; I can’t remember the plot of any of the episodes I watched.
Bingeing The Sopranos again. Good Lord, I had forgotten how good it was. One of the best shows ever produced, IMO.
I was doing the same thing, too! I saw A Man for All Seasons at an impressionable age, so it was a real mental wrench to switch my sympathies. Also, Anton Lesser is a very different Thomas More than Paul Scofield!
Just finished watching Black Doves with Keira Knightley I enjoyed it even though I didn’t understand the logic of the plot and that it wasn’t clear at the end, which means they left room for a second season if they so choose. Be warned that there are a couple of fairly explicit gay sex scenes if that sort of thing bothers you.
I was excited when Tosh became lead Detective. It’s rare for a show to promote a side character to a lead in that way.
That feels like a spoiler? I thought Jimmy was swapped out for some DI coming back to her hometown.
Watched No Good Deed starring Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, Luke Wilson, and several less-famous people. Called a comedy, but actually more of that type of modern “comedy” that is mostly a straight drama with a tiny trace of humor tossed in. It is okay. Not terrible, but nothing noteworthy or memorable either.
I think Ashley Jensen was a brilliant addition to the show though I admit prejudice because I think she was the best part of Extras. I did like Jimmy Perez and I feel Duncan’s story was never satisfactorily wrapped up but I still enjoy the new seasons.
Not really a spoiler, it’s just a slight reworking of the cast to continue the show. They did add a character to take Jimmy’s place, but she is not lead Detective. In her first season (8) she didn’t even want to be there.
I absolutely agree. I was watching it with a friend and I’m just laughing my ass off and she has this look of horror on her face.
Watching it now. Acting is great. Some fun characters. Definitely requires turning off brain to enjoy though. It is almost at farce satire level without meaning to be, or at least I don’t think that they mean to be? Maybe they do?
But enjoying it!
I watched the first episode and it definitely had the same vibe as Dead to Me (by the same creator) which I gave up on after a while.
Re: No Good Deed.
It seems to be labeled as “dark comedy”. Which a warning flag for me. Lots of dark, no comedy is typical. But given the cast I think I will at least try an episode.
I’d say to go for it. If the timelines bother you than I’d say to look at the one that interests you the most and skip the rest. For the first two seasons, there are only two timelines so it’s not that bad.
I’m planning on doing another rewatch and only going for the teen timeline. This show is honestly good but I feel like the timelines get in the way of eachother sometimes. If it had better pacing, I’d like it more.
Yup. And she brought baggage, which I don’t particularly like, (but my wife doesn’t seem to mind), but we still very much like Tosh, Sandy, and Billy, so we’re still watching.
Edited to add: Yeah, Tosh is supposed to be the lead.
Well, I’m officially bored with Silo in this latest ongoing season.
Think I’m just gonna drop it. Skipping the adult timeline just makes the show more boring imo. Gonna try and find other shows thst have that horror plane crash fix.
