I’m still slogging through it. It just gets dumber as it goes along. I think I sprained an eyeball when he tipped the car over.
Sonya Cassidy is actually a British actor.

Well, that’s no surprise. But why attempt such a difficult American accent? It’s like asking an American to adopt a scouse accent. I guess they wanted her to be ‘street’ tough? I dunno, weird choice.
I’m not particularly a fan, but the first season that I lazy-watched was season 2, and I liked it. To me, the characters were somewhat interesting, and there was enough plot and actual twists-you know, things actually happening-to keep me interested.
So I would recommend season 2. Also the setting is nice, and by coincidence I have some of the same bathroom tiles. And Aubrey Plaza. (ETA: I don’t have Aubrey Plaza; I just like her)
I tried to watch season 1 a month ago and, after about 3 episodes, I just didn’t care, and dropped it.
Mind you, I’m probably not the target audience.
I watched the first season and part of the second season, and I was lukewarm on it. Not nearly as funny as Garth Marenghi – but then again, what is?
NCIS: Origins
Watched 4 or 5 episodes, mostly bored, hate the present-day Gibbs narration, I’m done.

I agree, but I doubt anyone but Bostonians would catch the errors. I lived in South Weymouth for two years and I couldn’t tell you what’s authentic “Southie” and what isn’t.
My DIL is from Manchester and after 15 years, I can still barely understand her.
It is much faster moving. It has to be or we’d be in for 15 seasons which will not happen.
As a result, they are not exactly following the books but the main themes are there.
Well, I am a Bostonian, and I am very used to bad Boston accents in film and TV. Hers is quite possibly the worst I’ve ever heard, and that’s saying something.
I didn’t mind the present-day Gibbs narration, but I hated all the flashbacks to Gibbs dealing with the death of his wife and daughter. Plus, I couldn’t relate the way Franks was portrayed here with the way he was portrayed in the original series.
I loved this show! Also stars McMurray from Letterkenny. I watched it through the Hoopla Library app. Season 2, ep 1 (School) was superb.
The entire series was filmed twice, once in English and once in French.
I thought I’d give “Wheel of Time” a shot. It’s clearly meant for people who have read the books, as I was lost immediately.
I gave up after only two episodes. His bos was a jerk, too much on the killing of Gibbs family, too much smoking and gibbs didnt pass the psych eval- means you dont get in.
I though S1 was great. S2- was kinda too much out there. I liked the scenes where Reacher did little things off main plot, like helping a abused dog, and an abused woman, etc.
I think if you didn’t like the first season of The White Lotus, yoy wouldn’t like any of the three seasons so far. All feature similar themes of rich people behaving badly while at the same time being really screwed up.
The second series of Dark Winds, now on Netflix, follows Navajo reservation cop Joe Leaphorn as he investigates another mystery. Other than the setting it’s pretty standard fare, with a car bomb going off and Joe picking up a piece of wire at the scene and immediately knowing it’s an important clue. This season might be a slight improvement over the first, but I’m four episodes in and still hoping for something surprising to happen. I will say that Joe is one persistent cop who never lets some pretty severe injuries slow him down.
(If you watch with subtitles, there’s a funny moment where the subs identify “Bootleg” by Creedence Clearwater as “Navajo song”, which the way John Fogerty sings it, it might as well be.)
@Gyrate had recommended this too. You both steered well.
I initially was thinking the continuous shot bit would come off gimmicky and distracting but it doesn’t.
The actor playing Jamie is most amazing but the complete cast is superb. Every character feels like there is a consistent full story of interest behind them that is just hinted at but could be its own story.
Strongly recommended.
Season three is also now on NFLX.
Another positive vote for Ludwig. While it at first seems trite: An eccentric person, via contrived means, ends up helping solve murders, the acting and production is great.
Some of the exchanges between Ludwig and his sister-in-law are great. E.g.,
Ludwig: Did you just pretend to yawn?
Lucy; Good question.
(She’s been caught but doesn’t want to admit it.)
The show uses a lot of music by the other Ludwig. That works at first but eventually I got tired of all the various versions of Ode to Joy and such. LvB wrote a lot of less-famous stuff. Use those.
Since I recently watched Patience which has a similar superficial setup, comparisons are inevitable. Character-wise, I like Patience more than Ludwig. But the police procedural part of Ludwig is much better.
Both shows encountered a locked room mystery. Patience, character, was giddy about solving one. In Ludwig, while they acknowledge the murder took place in a locked room, never refer to the motif. What’s more, all the murderer reveals take place in the classic style with Ludwig outlining the solution to the group of suspects before naming the killer. No one comments how old school this is.
Finished: Adolescence. Could only watch one episode a night as it’s just a lot.
Started: Daredevil. So far so decent.
Ongoing: Samurai Jack. Have been dipping in and out and finally got to the end of S3. On to S4.
My wife made me bail on watching it together after about 15 minutes into the first episode. I’m undecided if and when I’ll watch it on my own.
Currently watching The Residence on Netflix. Lightly comedic whodunit in the White House, in the style of series like The Afterparty, Only Murders in the Building and a host of other recent series. I like it up to now: cozy watching with a few chuckles. Will probably forget about it when done.
