Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

I watched a few and you saw what I saw. Incredibly repetitive bit. It’s like watching episodes of Scooby Doo. That and bad acting due to David being too lazy to write scripts (he is George Costanza) and forcing actors to “improvise” dialogue. One episode I saw had Rob Reiner. You could see him stop and roll his eyes up to try and think of what to say next.

I have absolutely no idea how this show was considered at all good by people.

My recommendation: If you notice this stuff, stop watching. If you don’t notice, alternate watching Curb and episodes of Scooby Doo.

Yes, we only watched the first couple of episodes. I’m glad someone else has seen it!

Kvetching is a time-honored form of Comedy that a lot of people might not appreciate. That said, Larry David is the probably one of the best practitioners of the craft in the History of Comedy.

Yes, Curb was very formulaic and quite repetitive. It was also, IMO, very very funny. If a show makes me laugh, I can forgive a multitude of sins.

I have the box set. It is gloriously bizarre.

I’m in the middle of watching 19-2 on Acorn. Canadian police serial with Jared Keeso from Letterkenny.

I am envious! I think The Mighty Boosh might be crucial to our development as a species. However, husband seems bored.

Haven’t gotten around to watching this. Maybe I should just tell myself: “Pitter-patter, let’s get at 'er.”

Anybody else watching season three of White Lotus? I’m kinda hate watching this waiting for the inevitable bat-shit crazy turn to take place.

I don’t think Sam Rockwell’s monologue in episode five is that turn but it is bat-shit crazy and performed magnificently. Walter Goggins’ reaction to Sam’s story is priceless. Even if you’re not watching the show, it’s worth checking out the scene (in ep. 5) where Rockwell and Goggins are sitting across from each other at the table. It’s a stand-alone that won’t spoil the rest of the show and doesn’t require any set up from previous scenes.

Yes, it’s quite an erudite show.

Finished Prime Target. It was okay. I think we’ll try Douglas is Cancelled on Britbox next. A comedy with Hugh Bonneville as a newscaster whose drunken sexist joke has gone viral. Also starring Karen Gillan, who is very easy on the eyes, and the always watchable Alex Kingston

There’s rather more drama than comedy in this show. I’m not quite done with it, but while there are a few amusing parts, at least one of the episodes is devoid of comedic elements.

Thanks for the heads up.

When I heard that Goggins was in this, I finally decided to try watching it, staring with Season One. But I disliked or hated everyone so much I didn’t even make it through episode 1. Are they all like this, or should I just jump to Season Three?

We just saw episode 3 last night and my reaction at the end was: wow…absolutely nothing happened in that hour. We find out that Laurie voted for Trump. Stop the presses! Rick gets high and lets the snakes out. Nobody dies.

After Season 1, they drop the zookeeper shtick and it’s just two weird guys and their weird friends doing weird things. If your husband meets Tony ‘arrison and Old Greg and is still bored, the show is just not for him–which is of course just fine!

All the characters are still unlikable so just skip to the Sam Rockwell monologue.

I just started watching “The Wheel of Time” Season 3 on Amazon and wow! I was a bit iffy on the first two seasons. I had read the books and found the TV series to be lacking. But Season 3 is a banger! Loving it so far (only three episodes have dropped as of this writing).

Help me out a bit, I read much of the book series, and gave up after I read 200 pages of one of the later books without realizing I had read it before. That’s how little the plot advanced, or at least how little the plot advancement stuck with me.

Is the series a bit quicker moving?

Oof, tried the first episode of season 3 Reacher. I thought the first season was decent; it wasn’t great, but seemed like a show that might improve once they got in a groove. Season 2 was disappointing; I’m not going to forget that cheesy helicopter sequence anytime soon. I got halfway through SO3EO1 and gave up as soon as the DEA agents came on the scene. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard more absurd attempt at a Bahston accent. Within one line I knew it was put on. Also, all three actors are completely unconvincing as federal agents. For the show to improve, they really needed to surround the just-okay Ritchson with some talented, charismatic actors. They did not.

On the other hand, Dope Thief looks promising. Apple continues to put out some good stuff. Prime, with very few exceptions. makes hot garbage. They’re not spending like Apple and man does it ever show. They’re network tv level bad. Amazon is going to destroy the Bond franchise. I mean, not that I give a shit. The whole James Bond thing is completely played out, anyway.
