First scene I think with dad was that he had given up the pilot course for the Secret Service.
13 episodes in and The Pitt just gets more and more intense. This show alone is worth signing up for HBO Max.
The thirteenth episode of The Pitt continues the mass casualty incident storyline of the previous episode. Really intense, dramatic and really good.
As noted above we started watching Collin from Accounts and based on the feedback people gave we went ahead and finished both seasons.
It was … erratic. Some nice stuff and some “Why are we watching this?” stuff. Whole episodes were not remotely funny, or even interesting. I won’t watch it if another season comes out unless given a guarantee that there’s no divergent episodes.
Okay, well there was an episode where Gordon and Ash are apart til the end but the reuniting bit was quite touching.
Was that the one where Ash lost her phone and wallet while in another town. That was terrifying.
Did anyone notice the two chess playing cameos in the first epi of the new season of nDark Winds?
I did not. Too bad that George didn’t admit that he really has no idea how to end the…game…and could you really just forget about it already while he runs out the clock on other things?
I just finished it, and I enjoyed it considerably. Just one loose end that wasn’t satisfactorily tied up: what the hell was going on with the calligrapher, that his place cards were all so fucked up?

Currently watching The Residence on Netflix.
We’re also enjoying it while waiting for other series to drop another episode.
We watched the latest episode of Dark Winds, and I’m not sure if we’re going to get through it. It’s really choppy and uninteresting, with actors trying too hard to act, and a plot that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I don’t know why the show runners decided to run two plot lines, but it was a mistake.
And I finished the latest season of Reacher.

Started watching Ludwig last night and it appears to be a keeper.
Ditto and ditto! And I think it’s already been approved for a second season!

Yes, they are gearing up to shoot now, as Spring and Summer arrive.

Just one loose end that wasn’t satisfactorily tied up:
Random comedy, I think.

I also wondered about that. If it was played for a gag, it didn’t work for me.
I’m torn on The Residence. I haven’t liked the flashback style show for a long time, so that annoyed me. I think that made the timeline tough to follow. I also didn’t like the editing. They made several characters out to be liars until later but they even acted that way, when I don’t think they should have. For example, the new Head Usher during the reveal. It made her look like a liar, same for the maid, when that wasn’t the case. It was the editing but also seems like they were told to act that way. For all of my complaints, though, I liked the main character, like the actors, and the journey was mostly good, with stumbles along the way.
I haven’t read Agatha Christie in decades, so I don’t know if her stuff was guessable before the end. Not sure if modern mysteries are supposed to be guessable but the last one I watched was Castle, which was hit and miss, or Elementary, and same for that. I bring this up because I’m not sure if I could have figure out the murderer in The Residence given how the show was edited. It could equally be I suck at mysteries. I don’t watch a lot of them.
I realized I hadn’t finished Goliath s1 so I went back and rewatched it. I enjoyed it, I liked it, but I am confused on the verdict. I think the idea was that the company hadn’t been shown to be legally liable but the jury found them to be morally liable so had to pay damages. I think I find the season to be unsatisfying due to the judge being biased given his ambition but nothing said there. Maybe I was expecting something brilliant in the trial but it didn’t happen. I think it would have been nice if they had said that Billy had money from something because everyone asked about payment. The answer was “we will work it out.” If they hadn’t gotten the big payout, then what?? I’m not interested in other seasons, unless someone tells me they are great. Having watched Lincoln Lawyer recently, Billy seems worse in all regards. It was tough to see him screw people in the moment but get lucky how it all worked out, such as the FBI agent. He also screwed the kid of the mom we see when we first meet him, which didn’t help his character.
Thanks for the discussion!
Goliath is worth sticking with, although it is quite quirky. Each series is quite different from the others. I wouldn’t call it a courtroom drama though, so if that’s your thing then you may be disappointed.

A red herring as well. The hand that distracts from the one with the coin. I was certainly thinking the final twist would include it but couldn’t figure out how.
Overall the show didn’t work for me. There was nothing that showed she was smart enough to have earned her arrogance. In point of fact she missed many things. She is in this world only smart in relation to the complete stupidity around her. And the cutesy quirks were less funny than heavy handed.

I’m not interested in other seasons, unless someone tells me they are great.
My opinion: don’t watch any more. The seasons went downhill quickly.
Yeah. We enjoyed Season 1, were ambivalent about Season 2, and loathed Season 3.
Came home from work this morning, took my meds, did Connections and Wordle (solved it in three and beat the bot!), microwaved a cup of coffee and a Jimmy Dean stuffed hash brown, and turned on Netflix. First splash ad was for The Lady’s Companion, and it looked interesting (certainly colorful), so I put on Episode 1.
I think the first thing that made me want to like it is that the descriptive blurb promised that it was like Bridgerton mashed up with Fleabag. Made in Spanish, dubbed in English. The protagonist breaks the fourth wall some. Of the three sisters, the youngest is trying to channel Wednesday Addams, the oldest is horny and delusional, and the middle one wants to sidestep her father’s expectations and forge her own path (setting is late nineteenth century Madrid).
I’m not too sure about it. I fell asleep toward the end of Ep. 2 and woke up ten minutes into Ep. 3, but I had just gotten home from work, so I probably shouldn’t decide based on that alone.

We watched the first two episodes of The Studio on Apple TV. Seth Rogan plays a newly appointed studio head who wants to be an auteur but whose artistic integrity caves to the commercial wishes of his bosses Every. Single. Time. Even after just two episodes, it’s apparent this show is just a rip-off of the Larry David formula.
