I never thought I would give up on Jeopardy. I realized the other day that I haven’t watched it in months.
I just finished Season 3 of Reacher last night. While it was a little better than Season 2, I found this season to be lacking. It was hard for me to care about any of the characters, there was no real chemistry between Reacher and Duffy, and the amount of information that Beck was giving him after only a few days undercover was really stretching my ability to suspend my disbelief.
I will probably wait for the reviews of Season 4 before diving back in.
Yeah, it got pretty stupid at times, and whoever that actress is who played Duffy probably ought to go back to her barista job. In fact, most of the cast can do the same. We’re trying to maintain interest in The Residence. There are some amusing bits but the latest ep derailed into a beach scene with some kid (nephew?) and birdwatching.
I also just finished Reacher season 3 (on Prime, for those who don’t know) and it was a big steaming pile. The casting is way off, the writing is stupid, and the acting is more wooden than a 16th-century galleon. Just awful on all levels. It’s hugely disappointing because I do quite enjoy most of the books (for what they are), but this series just constantly misses the mark. I won’t be watching any more seasons, if they come.
I have to agree. As soon as they opted for the tired “save the girl” plotline, I started losing interest.
I wound up hate watching Reacher because I’m some kind of masochist. It would be generous to call the cast C-list actors. The writing was cliched and so awful I actually groaned several times. Suspending disbelief is hard if you need to do it every single scene. For instance, and I’ll spoiler it:
Cops arrive on the scene of Kohl’s murder:
Cop: Where’s Quinn?
Reacher: He was gone when I got here.
Cop: Say, why are there two sets of footprints in the snow leading down to the river, but only one set coming back?
They weren’t even trying.
Is there a question in this?
Thanks for the discussion!
Those of us who cut the cable lost current Jeopardy! because, as per its syndication contracts with the local tv stations that carry it, it can’t be offered on streaming.
However, at a November 2024 taping, Ken told the studio audience Jeopardy! would be on streaming starting in “early 2025.” He also specified the platform would be “most likely Hulu or Prime.”
We’ll, tempus fugit, fututor matrum
Not quite sure what you mean here. My son has YouTube TV, which carries the local channels. And he watches Jeopardy at the same time I do each weekday.
I’m watching season 3 of Bosch Legacy and I have no idea what’s going on. There are like four simultaneous stories, and they leap from one to the other without any obvious markers, and they throw in character names from not just earlier seasons, but from the original Bosch series, and it’s a complete jumble in my head. I like the characters and the way the main stories get solved, but it’s never been easy to follow.
This is supposed to be the last series, but the books have frequently gone through phases so there will probably be another version of the show coming soon enough.
Just finished the 6th season of Unforgotten (the 2nd season without Nicola Walker).
It’s weird, sans Walker it’s just not as good. Esp. since they put another person over Sunny and didn’t promote him. The show is confusing at times due to their technique of having a bunch of randos shown in the first episode of the season and it takes a while to figure who they are and how they might connect to the long deceased. (And this season, it’s only 3 years dead.) Lots of this and that which I don’t like. But … (here it comes)
It is still quite gripping. The show really had a hold on me. Much improved over season 5. They really did a good job keeping things cloudy so you don’t officially know who-did-it until late in the last episode. (But I figured out one aspect of it early on and correctly guessed the perp in episode 4 ot 6. But it was still a guess.)
They have significantly increased the role of Fern, on of the junior detectives on the team. I like that part. Victoria Hamilton is the “grieving widow” this season. I loved her in Living and she’s pretty good here. There’s too much personal drama shown. Esp. for the new boss Jess. Can’t at least one of the senior members of the team have a calm personal life?
Now looking forward to season 7.
What streaming service?
It recently aired on PBS. So maybe whatever they call their streaming version.
Note that it is probably available on Brit Box, Amazon, etc. I don’t know what services, etc. you have. There are sites out there that tell you what thing a program can be seen on. I suggest you use that in the future.
And keep in mind that programs pop and are removed on such services all the time. An answer given one month might not apply the next. So, again, look it up.
I don’t have cable, but luckily Jeopardy! Is on a local OTA channel. To be precise it is on a just barely receivable channel with a nearby translator.

Sorry to have bothered you.
Amazon Prime
My wife wanted to check out Mid-Century Modern on Hulu. It’s kind of a Golden Girls reboot but with gay men.
I’m not gay or a TV writer, but it seems to me that if you’re writing gay characters, maybe you shouldn’t make being gay their only personality trait. Well, OK, to be fair, there’s one guy who’s gay and dumb.
I laughed more at the State Farm commercials with Jason Bateman than I did at the show. I don’t think we’ll be moving on to episode two.
Oh great! Just exactly what I told my husband when I heard there was a new season of Bosch. We’ll be trying to remember what went on when we watched the other seasons which has to be over 2 years ago now. I feel like skipping it.
The Handmaid’s Tale - seasons 1 and 2
My wife and I have recently finished the first two seasons of the Handmaid’s Tale. We’ve never seen it and are mainly watching it now so that we can follow the final season as it plays out.
It’s…quite good, actually. I went in mostly blind and am impressed. It fits our times for sure. How tragic how real it feels.
My wife and I have been scratching our heads trying to figure out how this story can continue for 5 total seasons with a 6th one on the way.
I guess we’ll see.
Ghosts (US) - seasons 1 and 2
I’ve seen the UK Ghosts and was hesitant to approach the US remake. Hey, it’s great! Better than the UK one? Hmmmm…it’s about a tie. Nice thing about the US is we get a lot more episodes.
Anyway, fun show and I don’t watch a lot of new sitcoms. This one is terrific. Very cute and fun.
Good to see Liv Moore from Izombie getting a new role!
