And regarding Reservation Dogs, I think it’s slightly interesting that there have been three recent series featuring Native American characters; Reservation Dogs and Resident Alien, both on Hulu, and Rutherford Falls on Peacock.
I’ve finally gotten around to watching Bryan Cranston’s pet project Sneaky Pete (2015-2019), with Giovanni Ribisi as a con man impersonating a former cell mate to ingratiate himself with a family of bail bondsmen ( esteemed character actress Margo Martindale plays the matriarch). A minor character showed up in a couple of episodes of season two as a manager at an Indian casino and it took me a little bit to finally recognize her as Sara Tomko from Resident Alien
And also Echo on Disney+ which is a Marvel property whose titular star is Native American.

Thanks. I don’t have access to Disney+ so I haven’t seen that yet. Also I was amused that all three series started with an R.
That must be why you didn’t mention Dark Winds, which isn’t Rark Winds. There is also North of North, about Native America’s Hat Americans (and isn’t as good as any of the others).
Haven’t watched either.
We finished season one of The Peacemaker on HBO and I have to say that was a nearly perfect season of television. It’s trashy, it’s weird, John Cena plays a giant well-meaning but utterly clueless dork. it’s not precious about showing bigotry, even in the characters you’re supposed to be rooting for. I got into it for the laughs but John Cena delivered a surprising amount of pathos and I was moved by the theme of terminating a toxic family relationship (heh.)
I said, “I can’t imagine how anyone would love someone who was that abusive to them, isn’t that crazy?"
It really… well it really rang true to life. Not the sort of story I thought I would find myself in, but there you go.
Across the board the storytelling was excellent, I shouldn’t be surprised from James Gunn. Not easy to manage with an ensemble cast.
I’m 100% pumped for Season 2 and can’t wait to see the new opener!
Peacemaker. The Peacemaker will be the name of the eventual reboot.
Thanks. Is the reboot starting with Season 2 to be released later this month?
Is this gonna be a soft reboot or like a nothing that happened actually matters anymore reboot? Because the latter would make me sad.
That was a joke based on Suicide Squad being immediately followed by The Suicide Squad. Peacemaker season 2 is still called Peacemaker, and isn’t a reboot.
Oh! Someone else told me there would be a reboot.
Nope. But they seem to be retconning one scene:
This pleases me. I thought Season 1 ended perfectly.
There are trailers at the bottom of the thread
Defiance Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas and a lot more
On Peacock
I’m enjoying it. Humans and several alien races live in the town of Defiance and try to survive. There’s many conflicts between the powerful characters in the town and from outside forces.
Grant Bowler is the Lawkeeper. Julie Benz is the new Mayor.
I’m still in the early season 1 episodes. The characters are interesting. The aliens intentions are confusing, but I expect to learn more about them in later episodes.
I’m a little disappointed with the tired Romeo and Juliet trope. Did they really need teen romance from members of two rival families? I realize it creates conflict for the writers to explore. I’m curious how it will develop.
I know it ran 3 seasons. Should be entertaining.
It’s about a group of kids who live on a reservation. They’re poor, lack a lot of direction, but are trying to be good people. They have this idea that maybe they’ll go to California and escape the rez, but their dreams are the kind teens have, not terribly realistic. The show has elements of magic realism and some of its left for the viewer to decide what’s real. It’s also very funny, but can be sad.
SEC Football: Any Given Saturday (Netflix) I’m a big fan of college football (although my team is not in the SouthEast Conference) so I was looking forward to Netflix’ behind-the-scenes documentary. The lead-in says the SEC has the best players, best coaches, biggest stadiums and most rabid fans, and all of that is true.
They somehow managed to make it boring. Couldn’t make it through one episode.
It’s….not consistent enough, but you should still watch it. At one point, which I won’t spoil, they do a major cast overhaul in one episode and we were disappointed.
I won’t spoil a moment in a later season(I think season 3), but there is a moment from Defiance that is one of the my wife and my favorite moments in almost any TV show. You’ll know it.
Thanks @Mahaloth
There’s several science fiction series on Peacock. Defiance looked like a good one to begin with.
There’s a community game tie-in with Defiance but Wiki says it was all taken down.
Yes, this was the idea at launch. It would have a game that tied in to the series, but ultimately the series lasted and the game died out.
